I was wondering what your thoughts were on them.
They are sort of good and evil for me.
I feel good when I get them, but they take away from it as well.
I beat 3 games this week, which should feel good, but I didn't unlock ALL achievements, so part of me is wondering, did I REALLY beat the game?
I mean, I am just wondering if I am the only one who is obsessing about that or not Smile

What three games did you play; I've been playing Skate 2 and having fun but also I am aiming towards the achievements.

I personally love achievements. I mean what miniscule thing could really be that important. Whenever I get a game and it's on ps3 or 360 I usually always choose 360 for the achievements alone. Trophies psh. no thank you.

What's your gamerscore?

Yeah its the same way with me.  Their marketing ploy totally worked on me, like PunkyB if I can choose between xbox and ps3 Ill choose xbox so I can get achievements >>
But yeah sometimes they drive me nuts because I'll be working so hard to get one and I'll step back and be like "why did I just spend an hour collecting "blank" number of "blanks* for 20 freaking achievement points??"
Its an addiction... and my score isn't even something to brag about

I'm at a point with my xbox where if theres a game where I'm just not going to get the achievements I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. I love them and they can give a game that extra bit of longevity, however for some games they can also shorten the experience! I think its whats holding me back from my 3rd playthrough of fallout three, because theres a little voice in my head thats like 'wtf your done!'

Where they become a problem is if i have to spoil myself to make sure i get something e.g. "omg ok to collect this one object you have to make sure to be standing on one foot while waving your wrench above your head and singing show tunes exactly 2 hours into gameplay". If i can't come back for it later and its like one thing out of many for a collecting mission for example, it pisses me off.

In a way i like achievements 'cause it's super neat to gets some kind of credit for doing something in a game, but on the other side, sometimes you focus so much on the achivements that you kinda forget to enjoy the game, and that is really lame, ya know?

idk i'm kinda "eh" on achievements. i usually play for the fun of the game, but when i see that little thing pop up on my screen i'm like "yay achievement!"

but it doesn't change my gameplay.

although i know others, who play only for achievements...

like i know this one chick *cough* tenshots *cough* who went from 3000 some odd gamer points to like 7450 something  gamer points in just two days.

that, is not me lol...i play for the fun of the game

The easiest way to see if someone cares about their gamerscore is to look in their game history. If they have 1000 points from Avatar (the easiest points to get- EVER) then you know they're trying to raise their gamerscore Razz because theres no other reason to play that game

I have a pretty short attention span so achievements keep me on track. Most of the time. It's like I have someone giving me a cookie for doing a good job.
