anyone else partake in watching them, whether it's Japanese, Cantonese/Mandarin/Taiwanese, Korean or...something else? i've mostly watched Japanese drama as it's the one language i can fairly understand with or without subtitles.
i haven't really watched any in a long while though so i'm kinda looking for recommendations, especially outside of Japanese dramas. i've watched only one Korean drama (Coffee Prince) and a few movies, and a whole bunch of Canto/HK and Mandarin movies but not a single drama.
as for genres, i'm open to just about anything though i'm a pretty big sucker for FOOD dramas (My Little Chef, Lunch Queen and Shota no Sushi are favorites of mine. XD) and silly, comedy stuff. do any of the other dramas cover the whole 'g33k' thing apart from Japan? i had a ton of fun watching Densha Otoko and akihabara@deep because i'm an anime/gaming g33k like that but i have to wonder if that's a covered subject elsewhere... _________________ Currently stuck on:

Haven't seen a lot of dramas, and most of them are Japanese..
HERO - About a prosecutor who is a bit kooky, but has brilliant investigative skills and always manages to figure out the truth of an incident. Lots of funny moments.
Unfair - Dark crime drama where a (hot) tough-as-nails homocide cop has to work out the mysterious behind a series of murders. A lot of twists to keep you guessing.
Haken no Hinkaku/ Dignity of Temps - Office drama which depicts the different way temp workers are treated compared with regular employees. Stars Shinohara Ryoko as a "super temp" wrapped in mystery.
I did see a few episodes of this Korean drama which was pretty interesting:
Dae jang geum/ Jewel in the Palace - Historical drama about a girl who starts out as a novice in the royal kitchen, but who works hard to improve and get higher positions in the palace. Beautiful costumes and settings, and shows how meals are prepared in the old Korean court. |

the other two i haven't heard of but will look them up. and i did have a friend recommend Dae Jang Geum to me but the drama community i'm in on LJ didn't have it so i'm still looking. D:
