sooo i don't really have the money to buy a 360 yet so i was thinking of trying to play games on the PC that can connect to Xbox Live so i can actually game with some of you. of course, i think the only game that i'd really have interest in picking up at the moment would be Gears of War but hey, it's a start! (no Halo 2 as i don't feel like going Vista yet...) has anyone given any of the LIVE capable games on PC a try yet? _________________ Currently stuck on:

I don't 'think' I've played with anyone on pc, but am happy to give it a go and hear all about your experiences with it. I wonder do you get a friends list and all that type of thing? I have Gears of War and am happy to be your test bunny if you need one |

oh bah, nevermind. apparently, while it'll let you access LIVE to do the stats/friends list thing, it's not actually cross platform so *cry* no co-oping. T~T _________________ Currently stuck on:

Interesting that you should bring it up, nekotine. I was rather disappointed myself. First of all, Vista is a piece of crap. In fact, it's such a piece of crap that I use Ubuntu Linux. (Previously I was an XP Media Center user.) Halo 2, if you should choose to upgrade to Vista, is not actually supported for play over XBox Live. You can chat with users over XBox Live, but you can't join the games they make, nor can they join yours. The only game that actually has integrated play between Windows Live and XBox Live is Shadowrun, I believe. _________________ Bend gender 'till it snaps! |

urgh... for a game i absolutely LOVE to play as a tabletop RP, they sure blew it on the video game end. at least for me- a girl gamer. not being able to have a female avatar on a game that has a HUGE world, thus the possibility of thousands of female street samurai, hackers, riggers and all that, is more than possible. just...grrr...
ah well, guess i'll just have to save up for the 360 though really, the one game i love that was on the Xbox has yet to have one for the 360, which is Jet Set Radio sooo...we'll see. i'd really rather have a Wii prior to a 360 because it's so damn fun but...who knows?
as for Vista, i REFUSE to put that on my desktop until it's the only option i have, which might come sooner than i hoped with a lot of games forcing people to go DX10... *sigh* _________________ Currently stuck on:

I know that they are talking about having different servers in AoC (Age of Conan) for PC and Console users. So it has to be one or the other for everyone to group up in that game. It also looks like thats going to be the trend for a while till voice gets a bit more polish in the industry where other games are concerned. ( As with all games, thats subject to change lol)
In spite of it all PC is still the safest bet for the next few years...I'll bet money by then all the old consoles will be out the door along with the PC for the next generation of gaming. _________________

You're talking about DnD Online, I presume? I always preferred to keep it on the table top.

The stuff they put in the kernel is bloatware, and I don't think that the operating system has very many redeeming qualities, especially since Linux users are going to crack DX10 eventually anyway.
But I think you can run the DX10 games with DX9 anyway. At least, that's how it works for many of the games I've seen: they just run on your highest DirectX runtime. _________________ Bend gender 'till it snaps! |

Oh okay. I didn't even know that was originally a tabletop RPG. I just learned something new today!
More than I can say for my studies right now... _________________ Bend gender 'till it snaps! |
