Excuse me while I bitch a bit.

Bitch, whine, moan, kvetch, complain.

Ok... who's up for discussing? Who else is pissed off that they can't play their favorite games on the lovely Apple platform?

I can't be the only one.

Mmm...I'd say it'd be more...'convenient' for me if a lot of PC games had a Mac version as well so that when I go to my friends' place, I could still game with them on Hellgate or CoH/V on my Macbook but for the most part, I'm fine with the arrangement. As I've said before, my Mac is pretty much my 'work' machine and my PC is my 'play' machine. I love them equally for different reasons.

Start a thread about this in the Mac section, too, with more content, and maybe we can get an in-depth discussion going. Smile

Why don't you run leopard and play pc games on it? That's what I"m doing at the moment with SimCity Societies. I loathe to do it as I'm a mac girl through and through, but I'm doing it because I want the game.

Because my mac isn't new enough. I don't have an Intel mac.

Also, because I played with Leopard for an hour the other day in the Apple store, and I really wasn't impressed. I didn't really like it that much at all.

Quoi? Leopard enables Intel Macs to play PC games? I might have a reason to upgrade then...

No, no, wait! What enables Macs to play Windows games is:
1. Must be an Intel Mac (the new ones are)
2. Make sure it's got a good graphics card (not the onboard type)
3. Must buy and install a copy of Windows (and it's got to be the full version and a certain type of Windows--check the Apple.com site for specifics about it under "Boot Camp")
4. The installation must be on a separate partition or hard drive.

I haven't done it, so if you need more info, I would suggest asking at an Apple store or look at Apple.com, or find someone who has done it, like Gadget Girl.

My solution was to buy a gaming laptop with windows, and forego trying to play any games on iMac.

Windows XP with service pack 2.   Or Vista, but since even the Windows lemmings don't seem to much care for that, I'd likely forgo it.  I downloaded the beta version of Boot Camp but my wife's PC doesn't have a seperate disk w/ XP on it that I can find so I didn't get it used.  I'd still rather they just made the bleeding games for the Mac.   Windows makes my teeth hurt.
