I like a lot of lesbian books that are a bit of fun, glitzy (or should that be clitzy) humor and I wondered if anyone could recommend any decent lesbian authors or books they've read?
I love that whole trashy Jackie Collins feel to lesbian books, the more drama the better. I'm not big on all these lesbian cops and detectives, so if anyone has something they think I'd like, let me know!
Thanks

i'd definitely be interested to hear what y'all have to recommend. it seems all of the lesbian books i read have tragic endings (i.e. the illusionist and bittersweet). but then again, that's nothing new...lesbian films have been doing that to us for years.
so clean out your shelves...i'm itching for something new to read! |

I've only read two lesbian books. I'm kinda limited to what our library has, as our small bookstores don't carry gay and lesbian books. And I have a huge pile of books that I own that I still need to read.
Anyway, I've read Prozac Nation (didn't really like it), and A Departure from the Script (LOVED it).
I should try looking up some of the books you've all mentioned on here. Maybe our library has some of them. |

Check out this book company for many choices:
http://bellabooks.com/
Make sure to check out the Bella After Dark link under book tities if you are looking for erotica. Also, there are books just of lesbian erotica out there. Try doing a search with those two words at an online book site.
I like Karin Kallmaker a lot, and J. M. Redmann. Lauren Wright Douglas wrote great stuff but it's rather hard to find, nowadays.

Hey thanks for the suggestions. I'll check Bella out.
I could never get into Karen Kallmaker for some reason...
I wonder why there are so many lesbian books about detectives and things. |

Well, if you don't mind it in a comic form, there are some translated Japanese yuri/lesbian manga by both Lililicious and Otenba available for downloading, though Otenba only has one live project at the moment since the others got licensed here in the states.
Apart from that, the only lesbian themed books I've read are ones that most have read already, and that's the books from Sarah Waters: Tipping the Velvet, Fingersmith, reading through Affinity now. _________________ Currently stuck on:

There are some lesbian science fiction and fantasy and horror writers like Melissa Scott and Tanya Huff, but not all of their books have lesbians in them.
Some good books with lesbians (but not all by lesbian writers):
The Nature of Smoke by Anne L. Harris (science fiction)
the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison (has a cool lesbian vampire, but they are mysteries)
The Kindly Ones by Melissa Scott (science fiction)
There are many others, but I can't think of them right now.

Oh, speaking of comic book form, try the Strangers in Paradise graphic novels by Terry Moore. Great lesbian character, even though it was written by a guy. He's a good storyteller.
Other good lesbian characters in graphic novels (both by guys, though):
My Faith in Frankie by Mike Carey, Sonny Liew, and Marc Hempel (kind of a cute, weird book)
and
Paris by Andi Watson and Simon Gane
And for lesbian comics by women, try:
