My french is un petite mal (and that wasn't even good grammar) but from what I understand about a dozen people are working on it and it is still in the pre-production stage. For whatever reason, Ubisoft has not green-lighted it. This news is straight from the horses mouth, as it comes from Micheal Ancel (the creator of Rayman although they say Rayman's father but that just sounds odd. Is he Jade's uncle?) |

This news is such a tease. Please, Mr. Ancel, why must you raise my hopes? And Ubisoft, why must you continually threaten to dash them?
Anyway-- for those who haven't had the pleasure of meeting one of gaming's most amazing female protagonists in a story that is at once deeply emotional, funny, and thought-provoking, you should download the original off Steam (sorry-- it's not available outside North America). Like now.
And then, you should all write to Ubisoft, telling them to greenlight the sequel IMMEDIATELY.

Ubisoft wont green light it because the first one suffered from such poor sales and with next gen consoles its hard for a platformer type game to get any serious media coverage and they have like 10 big titles coming up soon too so just like the first Beyond... it will suffer bad sales from compition with other Ubisoft titles.
maybe they are just waiting for a slow quater to release it in. |

That sounds right but if they greenlight it now and get 'er done asap then couldn't they just bench it until that lull occurs? |

That would be the right thing to do, They must have another reason why they are hesitant about giving it the go ahead. Maybe its just a case of the first point i made, that they are afraid that platformers wont do as well unless they have a strong following like Ratchet and Clank.
Sony or MS may be trying to get exclusive rights... that delays alot of games, bidding ways and cross platform desicions. |
