Well...it's ALMOST that time of year...
Anyhow, greetings all! I'm a girl and I like gaming. And other girls too. I suppose that means I fit in here. ;3 Some might consider me a bit 'old school' as I was on the Earth before Nintendo came out but hey, age doesn't determine the love for gaming, right? First, console was an Atari, upon which my favorite games were Kaboom! and Maze Craze.
Later, came the NES, Super Mario Bros and Kung-Fu. ...never did finish that stupid 5th floor of Kung-Fu. Eventually, all the kids on the block had an NES and we'd spend hours upon hours trying to get through all of the newest MegaMan, Ninja Gaiden or Double Dragon game out there. Some of us were even lucky to get the Super Scope and Power Pad! Oh, such fond memories of getting tired of not passing that one event in Track & Field by actually running and just resorting to slapping the pad with your hands...
Apart from getting the (ORIGINAL huge as a brick) Gameboy, I missed out on owning all the other consoles that followed: Sega Genesis/CD/32x/Saturn, Super Nintendo, Turbo Grafx 16. While I still got to play on friends/cousins' systems and also would make trips to the arcade/Golfland, it wouldn't be until my dad started doing a small gaming magazine of his own for the SF Bay Area, that I got to 'own' another system, which would be the 3DO, and also got introduce to gaming on computers a la Doom & Doom 2. Also around this time, fighting games were becoming popular a la Street Fighter 2 so I ended up getting into that pretty deeply, but never really got into any of the others (Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, Killer Instinct, the SNK line...though I did like Samurai Showdown quite a bit...)
Around high school, the Nintendo 64 was doing pretty strong and I was enjoying playing multiplayer games like James Bond and FZero with friends...until along came the Sony Playstation. Then gaming got kicked up a notch. While I had had a bit of RPG experience via Shadowgate on the NES, then Final Fantasy 3/6 and Chrono Trigger (probably STILL my favorite RPG to this day) on the SNES, my love for them pretty much exploded with the Playstation, scoring games like FF7, Wild Arms, Suikoden and Xenogears. But of course, I can't leave out my other favorites in other genres such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Bust A Move/Groove and of course the, the line-up of Be/Konami games, Beatmania and Dance Dance Revolution.
After that, I managed to get a Dreamcast, mostly because I wanted to play Jet Set/Grindo Radio but other than that, didn't own any other console (but again, leeched time off of friends/roommates systems) until the Nintendo DS Lite, which I adore but most of my gaming these days consists of the ever addicting MMORPG type. n.n;
I blame Ragnarok Online. I really do. If that game hadn't been so cute and mindlessly fun then I would still just be a console gamer. But no, it had to sweep me off my feet with this adorable little sprites. From there, I moved to Anarachy Online, which was a pretty fun game, save for the constant nerfing and the forced PvP environment. Yes, I'm the biggest 'Care Bear' ever. I mean, I don't mind a little duel or just silly punchouts with friend but for the most part, I save my PvPness for things like CounterStrike. Anyhoo, from there came Final Fantasy XI, a beautiful but AWFULLY time consuming game. I still miss my mithra but ugh...constantly having to team to get anything done at a decent rate was just...ugh... City of Heroes/Villains brightened my day for a while but then, of course, World of Warcrack came out, and in comparison to the grind on FFXI, I was much happier but I eventually grew tired of that grind as well. With fantasy being so popular and the films doing well, it was only a matter of time that The Lord of the Rings Online would hit shelves, and while my poor computer could only run it at the fairly low settings, I was happy enough. Then came Tabula Rasa, which seemed like it would answer the prayers of a decent sci-fi mmo (at least in our opinion. i know some people other there like Eve Online, Star Wars Galaxies and such but we need something a bit more casual friendly), but that went down in blaze as it neared it's actual live launch.
So here we are now, on Hellgate London. Yes, it's still buggy as hell and really isn't an MMO in the sense of the other games but hell if it doesn't keep me entertained! We're loving the FPS meets RPGness of it, within a sci-fifantasy//apocalypse setting. It has it's issues but I figure, if Flagship can iron out the boo-boos, they'll have one heck of a solid game.
...and that's pretty much my gaming life in a...truck sized nutshell. Sorry, I babble. To add to my geekery, I enjoy japanese animation and manga a great deal, and also read a few comics as well. I love music and film, and am striving to get into the industry somehow. Eh...I think I've blathered on long enough now so I'll end this here. Hope to talk/game with y'all! _________________ Currently stuck on:

Eck, I kind of lied/forgot. I did eventually get a N64 of my own and also the GameCube. Wah, it's been so long since I've used them though. x_x; _________________ Currently stuck on:

Natsuki is awesome, is she not? Even if Shizuru is making her exasperated like in the icon. XD _________________ Currently stuck on:

I remember the original Gameboy, too, with the grey unlit screen! I had to attach a lit magnifier screen to it to be able to play for any length of time.

What an awesome intro! Welcome to the site, I loved reading all about you and I am over the moon to see that you have a Macbook Pro! I am a Mac fangirl through and through and it always fills me with glee when someone else 'gets it'.
I can tell already it's going to be amazing to have you on the forum. Can't wait to hear more.

Ooh ooh, are you a ShizNat fan?? I use to read a lot of fan fiction written about them. Haven't in a while though.
Anyway, welcome!  |

@xKIDDOx:
Yup! Like many others out there, I love the couple but I don't know, I have yet to bring myself to watch Mai Otome even though I've heard they're far more 'coupley' in it than in HiME. I'll get around to that and the OAV series some day. n.n; Thanks for the welcome! :3
@KJRYANN:
Because before there was DDR...there was...POWER PAD!!! *DUNDUNDUN* And thank you for your welcome. :3
@Gadget Girl:
Oof, I was really worried I had made it far too long. It was kinda fun to write all of my gamiing history and before I knew it, it was super long! And yes, <3 the Macbook Pro. It's not my 'gaming' machine but it's served me well ever since I got it! Well, except for the battery swelling up so much it nearly jumped out of the casing but hey, it took like...a year of use before that happened. n.n; I hope to make it my 'studio' machine in the future once I have the money to buy programs like Final Cut Pro and Ableton Live. So yeah, my Mac will be my 'work' machine while the PC is the 'play' machine. I love both equally. :3 Glad to have been pointed to this place by a friend and hope to stick around to talk game with y'all!
@Jude:
LOL YES! Eventually, they came out with the magnifier and light for it but man, did it make it even MORE clunkier. I think Tetris was pretty much the game of choice on my Gameboy but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game got some good playtime as well. XD _________________ Currently stuck on:

Yeah, same here. I didn't watch Mai Otome either.
Oh! I had a Power Pad too. Actually, I think I still have it. My friend and I use to play the Track & Field games all the time. We'd jump up and down and slam our feet on the pad so hard, the NES would usually end up turning on and off and acting up. haha |
