Because the internet needs another ShizNats thread... ;3OMG! Here it is! Honestly, I think I'm nore of a Natsuki fan than Shizuru but maybe it just seems that way because I wasn't able to get the one Shizuru figurine I really wanted, available only by luck of the draw trading figurines. >_< I don't know why but I never really liked the design/colors of her Meister Robe in Otome when I saw it in pictures. It was like...PURPLE OVERLOAD or something. But I very much <3 my Meister Robe and MH game trading figurine of Natsuki. X3

That's funny, I was always more of a Shizuru fan. I dunno why though. I've only seen Mai-Hime. I didn't think there was very much ShizNat in Mai-Otome, so I never watched it. I did see the scene where she's massaging Natsuki though (yay for YouTube!).
Anyone else a fan of the two??
Awwww!! Gives me warm fuzzies.

Oh, I love Shizuru too but yeah, I guess I kinda identify with Natsuki a bit more. Parts of me identify with Shizuru as well but just not as much.
I've heard that Natsuki's presence in Otome is pretty minimal as well. Not sure about Shizuru, though being an object of Tomoe's desires, I think that bought her a bit more screen time. *shudders at Tomoe's fetish* Just yikes. n.n;
Really? Maybe I just was in the right place at the right time but I know quite a few places for fanart of them. A World Apart has some great stuff not only of ShizNat/MH/MO, but also of Maria-sama ga Miteru and much more. Here's a link to a list that greywing (who writes EXCELLENT fanfic of the girls. I highly recommend her drabble cycles.) made of many more artists. Hope that helps. :3

Thanks! I'll take a look at them. I've always been a big Marimite fan too. Sachiko is ♥.

I liked Shizuru better, probably because she was the one was openly queer on the show. I got a kick out of the scenes where she goes on a rampage after getting rejected by Natsuki. Her HiME was freakin' HUGE! Her love for Natsuki made her awesomely powerful. I was touched by Natsuki's decision for them to go down together though. Even though you pretty much *knew* at that point that the show was going to revive everyone anyway, it was still moving. I was grinning so hard during the final scenes of the show that showed Shizuru happily hanging off of a tolerant Natuski.
I definitely had a problem with Shizuru's violation of Natsuki while she was sick, though. It's not really clear what happened, but it had a pretty high squick factor for me. I still need to watch Otome...I never got around to that.

Not to appear dim.. and I'm rushed for time, so forgive my stupidity and direct questions...
What show is this? If I walk into my local DVD store, what am I looking for?
Is there a lesbian in it all the time or was it one of those annoying token episode things?
Essentially I need to know if this is worth my time and money.. but I'm not sure if it's called Shizeru .. Natsuki or something else??
Thanks guys.

It's an anime called Mai HiME (but I think it might have been changed to My HiME for the US release) that ran for 26 episodes. It's available on DVD, but it's probably pretty expensive, as anime tends to be.
Natsuki was one of the main three characters, but she's not a lesbian per se. One of the secondary characters, Shizuru, is in love with Natsuki, which you find out near the end of the series (although it's hinted at throughout and isn't really that hard to pick up on). It's not a token thing, as Shizuru is in all of the episodes and becomes more and more of an important character as the show goes on, but it's more of a side plot. The friendship/bond between Natsuki/Shizuru becomes pretty important at the end of the show, however, and it does get a lot of spotlight. Though Natsuki initially tells Shizuru that she's not interested in women, it's implied at the end of the show that she'll eventually come around.
It was a cool show, so it's definitely worth your time. I dunno about your money though, since anime DVDs aren't cheap and a full set normally runs to 7 DVDs or so. Your call.

She was definately the more entertaining of the two but like I said, I just feel more connected to Natsuki with her emotional junk. I can related to Shizuru and some of her emotional junk as well but not on the same scale as Natsuki.

Yeah, it is wrong if she did violate their friendship like that, and while the entire scene is REALLY ambiguous since it's never really set in stone whether that's what Yukino saw or if that's what Natsuki thought had happened since it cuts from HER face and not Yukino's. Of course, it can't really be denied that Shizuru really did want Natsuki in a physical way so...it's a hard call. At least in Kannazuki no Miko, there's no real question whether Chikane violated Himeko but here, hard, hard call.

If your dvd store has a fairly extensive anime/animation section, you might be able to find it. Mai HiME doesn't constantly have a lesbian in it so yeah, it's pretty much choice episodes where it's obviously shown. If you want more regular/obvious lesbian action, there's Simoun (which I think has just started being released in the states), the before mentioned Kannazuki no Miko and Revolutionary Girl Utena. There are quite a few other Japanese animation series that are considered yuri or lesbian/girls love in content but for a majority of the US audience, might seem a bit on the weak side. Japan is pretty much a country built on context/subtext, after all. n.n; If people would like me to list some, I'd be glad to start another thread centered around yuri themed anime and manga. :3

I really liked Kannazuki No Miko. Also a big Marimite fan.
Context drives me nuts. I hate to have to wait until the 22nd episode to get a kiss or something. Or when they don't do anything at all. I guess I had more patience back in the day. Or maybe I'm spoiled from watching The L Word. I think that's the problem.
I have never been able to find too much yuri/shoujo-ai manga to download, other than what lililicious has on their site. There was one manga...Pieta (I think it was) that I thought was excellent!

Ya I'm a big Shiznat fan in terms of Fan Fiction anyway. I've read loads of it and hunting for more. It hasn't been that long since I watched Mai Hime & Otome so there's so much more to see

Oh, Pieta was an awesome manga. It was really one of the first yuri mangas I read that got me into the whole fandom. Much love to it. That and anything by Yamaji Ebine is pretty much pure love.
To the original topic, I'm actually fairly surprised at how Shizuru/Natsuki fandom lives on even now. o.O Though to be honest, I haven't found any decent fanfiction in ages for the two.

Ah I read a translation to 'Natsuki's Prelude' yesterday (when I should have really been studying lol...)
It was great to read what happened before the anime with Natsuki (and has enough Natsuki/Shizuru interaction to have me happy ^_^)
