BooksI'm frankly surprised noone has asked this question. Has anyone found any books they thought were amazing? Ones that maybe aren't in the mainstream, or are really new?
I just finished reading Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy for the third time. Weird book, probably not for everyone, but definitely good for those interested in philosophy. For example, mattresses that like to be wiggled against.
God, imagine a bed having an orgasm while you do...
Anyway, find me something new to read, people.

If you're looking for humor, Goblin Quest is great. Its a fantasy quest told from the goblin's point of view.

Actually there's a thread called "amazing reads" further down on the page that asks a similar question.
I just finished Stephen King's "Cell" and it was splendid, i couldn't put the book down when i started reading it.
One of my all time favorite books is "Dystopia" written by Dennis Jürgensen, it's a epic telling of two kingdoms in a war against eachother, and the heirs to each kingdom gets transported to another world and has to survive.. if i remember correctly that is xD
Also from the same author- "Kadavermarch" rouchly translated it means march of the cadavers- a pretty good zombie book =)

Most of the books that i consider amazing are mainly ones that i read when i was much younger, I dont remember much else from that era except for 2 books that i read.
The Phantom Tollbooth, i can't remember what the author's name is, but it was one of the books that really got me into reading as a kid. Been trying to track down a affordable good condition copy recently, but its been a mission.
Oddkins by Dean Koontz was the first children's book he wrote. Quite dark for a kid's book, but basically revolves around a bunch of 'good' toys who have to trek across the city to get to the new toymaker's store after their own toymaker dies. But hunting them down is a bunch of 'evil' toys who had been banished to the basement and comes alive once the old toymaker dies. The characters are lovable and def a book i couldnt put down as a kid. Very hard to find now as it's no longer in print.

I love Dean Koontz, he has a unique way of writing that sucks you in and never lets go. Haven't read that book though, but it sounds awesome.
Have you tried reading Umberto Eco, it's really a true joy for teh brain-specifically "The name of the rose." A book my brother introduced me too when i was like 12 or something.
It's a murder mystery in Italy in the year 1327, we follow a friar and his apprentice when they visits a monastary where there has been comitted a murder.. and i really can't describe how good it is, you gotta read it yourself ^^
