Now... Iteki... what did you think? I thought it was really good and I loved the lesbian subtext of Helena and Gina.. or whatever her name was. Kendra Shaw was cool too, I felt sorry for her though.

Beaten again, what the frak?! Was going to post this this morning, but didn't think anyone else had seen it, great minds think alike so!
I was a little dissapointed. I could have done without the whole "stand alone" story and happily just explored the relationship between the various women, and the "middlestory" of Pegasus. The question that was on everyones lips of how we would get our heads around the concept of a relationship between Gina and Cain compared to how Gina ended up was more or less entirely sidestepped. I really liked seeing the mentor relationship between Cain and Kendra, and see even more easily how it could have ended up going for Kara if she had continued to have Cain as an influence. I think Cain could well have been both the best and worst thing that ever happened Kara. Adama said it best when he said "I'd like to be selling tickets to that dance". Truer words never spoken. So anyhow, a little dissapointed by a lot of missed chances and a general feeling of rushedness. Can't wait for the DVD release which has more material.
One of the things that makes it all a little more bittersweet is that I believe that the sixes, while obviously being "the seduction models", fall for their targets. I believe Gina loved Cain, as I believe Caprica loves Baltar. This was evident to me especially in the part when she is talking to Kendra and she's like "let me still your curiousity" and starts going on about Cain and how they met etc despite the fact that Kendra hasn't implied any curiosity at all. It really rings true of somone who has been keeping the secret of being crazy about somone. I also read some serious jealousy vibes from Kendra at the dinner, but I don't know if they were romantic/sexual or just "somone taking my attention" ones.

It's funny you should mention the 'jealousy vibe', I was actually thinking at one point that it may have been Kendra and Gina that had gotten together, before it became obvious it was Gina and Cain, I definitely felt like there was something there... although Kendra's feelings were obviously towards Cain the more it went on. That would have been one interesting story that's for sure.
You're right about it all feeling a little rushed, I figured they had to squash that whole thing into 90 minutes or whatever it was though, so I'll forgive that.. quite a few of the episodes also feel they could have done with more fleshing out.
Oh the Sixes, how I adore them and I think you are right, though there wasn't much hesitation on Gina pointing that gun at Cain, even the unflappable Cain was like WTF and her whole world fell apart right at that moment. I think it would have been better had she pointed that gun at anyone other than Cain, to at least show some sort of loyalty to her in that moment; though I guess Cain showed her little mercy overall so.... I don't know, I think maybe I'm a little pissed that it's been the first time I've thought to myself OMG the Sixes truly don't care in a pinch about the person.. other than Caprica Six, who I think would definitely take a bullet for Baltar.. and has lol.

Thanks for the info about the DVD having more stuff on it, I'll be ordering that of course as soon as I can!
OMG can't believe I forgot... what about the last bit of info about Starbuck!!!!!!!!!

It's a nice headfuck the last bit there about Starbuck I'll admit, but why in gods name would we start listening to the enemies disinformation now? Are we allowed to curse on here? I am in trouble otherwise...

I guess we are and headfuck is such a perfect word for what that was lol.
It was a little silly anyway given Kendra never got to get the full sentence out.
I still don't really understand why / how Lee could tell Starbuck to stay and die when there were other grunts with her. Did I maybe miss something?

Right.. I won't go into anywhere near as much detailed discussion as you two lovelies have (coz I'm at work), but here's my thoughts.
I love the sixes. I can't help myself. I am one of those saddos like in the show who fall for them hook line and sinker LOL. Gina is a hottie, I still can't believe she knew what she was doing in helping with the downfall of Pegasus... but presumably we're meant to see how calculated they can be from this. I think she genuinely did love Cain and I think it was a great way of showing how Cain started to go so insane. She was in love and she was betrayed... gotta hurt.
As for Kendra.. I wanted to feel sorry for her and I sort of did.. but I thought she was a bit of an ass to be honest. So she idolised Cain, ok I get that, but... well... she was so gullible to her and so on. I don't know... I wasn't feeling the love really.
Now.. Starbuck! Wow.. ok. so I agree that it's unlikely we would listen to the 'baddies' now, I think it's more put in there to fuck with the viewers minds. There is NO WAY my Starbuck is a baddie. Nope. Nope Nope. LOL Anyway, it's a wicked little plot twist and I'm stoked now for the next season!

I love the Sixes too, no one other than Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Connelly can do that 'sad eyes' like Tricia Helfer.. god it just breaks my heart.. regardless of which model Six we're talking about.
Now I'm really looking forward to the DVD release of Razor, I want to see those extras! I hope it expands a little on the story.
I felt sorry for Kendra, it was like she was just this dumb kid out to impress and it really messed her up.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the show, but...
Here we go again! Lesbian main characters in a mainstream TV format, and they're either a ruthless killer ordering the execution of civilians and the torture of prisoners, or an alien bent on the genocide of humanity. And they destroy each other in the end!

I both totally do and totally don't agree with you there. Yep, it's almost the poster-child for the "dead and/or evil lesbian" stereotype, but I said from the start that if anyone was going to be able to pull that off it would be BSG, and it honestly does I think. It feels like this is the story that it needed to be, in the BSG world, regardless of what we are so infinitely sick of in "the real world". This is really the only story that made sense, you know?

I have to agree with you there iteki. I didn't really read that much into it other than.. to be honest.. Cain seemed like the perfect character (other than season one Kara Thrace) to be the token lesbian character. Actually I could see Kendra as a lesbian as well..
Anyway it is annoying when they do the whole demonising thing, or the invisible thing or whatever negative attribute they attach to the onscreen lesbian, but in this case.. I really enjoyed the fact these two misfits were dykes, it's not like they're the only misfits in the series and all the rest are straight (apparently).

i also <3 the sixes in a big way.  i have to agree that gina did really love cain. she is the one six that showed no interest in baltar...and did end up killing herself.  so sad. plus the absolute brutality cain allowed toward the cylon when galactica showed up. my first WTF of the episode. i almost expected some sort of processing session between cain and gina while she was in the cell...hrm. but yeah...<3
oh man, the thing about starbuck at the end was the last of the WTF's while watching razor. i had a wee crush on starbuck but about halfway through the first season all i could see is macaulay culkin when starbuck popped on screen. and it totally ruined it for me.
i hadn't watched BSG in so long i almost forgot how good it is. i don't know if i can wait until march.
