Can we say best E3 ever?So now that all three major conferences from Sony, MS and Nintendo are finally done, what did you guys things about them? Any games you're excited about? Disappointments?Personally, I think my head exploded today XD. Metroid Other M looks fantastic, but tbh, it was the only thing that Nintendo had going for me  SMG2 and four player co-op for the new super mario bros looked alright but they didn't quite win me over. Give me the next zelda, then we're talking  .
MS had natal which surprisingly looks great. I loved how they finally showed alan wake and splinter cell conviction after all of this time. Halo ODST was alright. The conference was kinda on the boring side too. But I'm glad about the announcements of games like L4D2 and Crackdown 2. Sony was pretty much the big hitter for me. Showing the "upgraded" TrICO trailer pretty much made my heart melt. Uncharted 2, MAG, GOW3, GT5, ModNation Racers all looked great. Only thing I hated was the fact that FFXIV was gonna be an mmorpg and the dildo looking motion controller they had The tech demo was interesting but the design worries me. That, and the inkling I have that it'll turn end up like the sixaxis functionality.
Okay I've tired myself out from all the head explosions so I'm just gonna stop here  . Thoughts?

I think both MS and Sony put on a grand display both showing some class games and both showing their new motion sensing hardware, like you I feel that Nintendo was a bit of a let down, The new Metroid and Golden Sun DS were the only thing that stood out and got any reaction from the audience, even the 2 mario games got a muted response on the whole. Ninty had very few right moments from an otherwise dull conference.
After seeing project Natal, the new 1080p streaming, facebook integration, addition of Sky and last Fm and some of the impressive games I thought MS had this E3 sown up, and I posted that on a thread here that it looked like it was time for me to invest in a 360. Then this evening I watch the Sony live stream on G4, there seemed to be more for me there, as a fan of RPG and Fantasy type games, and I have to admit I almost shed a tear at the Last Guardian video, there was something so magical about it. And despite a slightly slow start Sony's motion sensing hardware got more impressive as the tech demo went on. God Of war also impressed me, ModNation looked like it could be a fun game with a few friends, reminded me a little of trackmania. I was also taken with some of the new PSP titles, it looks like I'm going to be broke for a very long time

That Last Guardian game looks quite good. I like how the fluffy monster looks 
One that I really liked the look of is Mini Ninjas. That really got my attention. It looks like a lot of fun. |

Left4Dead left me sort of disappointed. They could've easily just added more as downloadable content instead of a whole other sequel to a game I already find short... and than selling it to you like a whole other new game. Considering the first one didn't even come out that long ago either! Screw that.
Personally I crapped my pants over Super Mario Brothers Wii. It's like they got the bright idea of combining the crazy fun and action of those little coin mini games in Mario 3 with the bigger side scrolling adventure. Don't give a damn about a new Zelda or Other M. Wish Nintendo would throw their other ignored franchises a bone. Bioshock 2 could be fun. Though I'm not too thrilled about the multiplayer. I always felt that it wasn't what the first game was ever about and the reason why it stood out to me. Do we really need another competitive multiplayer shooting game in a market already over saturated with them. As long as it doesn't take away from more time that can be put into an immersive single player, I'm good. Also Mario Galaxy 2, Fuck yeah. |
