comixI thought the placement of the discussion about lesbian-related comics in my thread in the welcome area might have been a little obscure... So i thought i'd repost it here so new members can find it too..
plus i remembered another one i forgot in the inital post.
Anyone else have any faveroute comics with lesbian cast members?

I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space
Yu+Me Dream (same artist as lesbian pirates)
Flipside
Angels 2200 (done by an "honourary aussie", i.e New Zealander. winding down to end soon, unfortunately.)
Punch an' Pie (well, not -quite- "lesbian themed"... the main character is bisexual)
Khaos Komix (it has numerous character's "Stories".. the archives start with the story of the gay couple, but its worth reading regardless. Its in the middle of the lesbian storys now)
Misfile (seperate from the rest as its more of a trans-related central issue in this one. But its leaning toward lesbianism in the current storyline)
There's also a couple i check occationally, they arnt near as good as the others though
Taiki (frustratingly slow update schedual)
Heard (havn't made up my mind yet on this one)
I also read alot of comics that have lesbian characters, though they arnt the mains usually. However they are worth reading regardless, IMO
El Goonish Shive (this one is... odd.. you either love it or hate it. I happen to love it, i think its very cute)
Something Positive (...yeah, if you read webcomics and HAVNT heard of SP, id have to ask how you've managed to keep your head in the sand )
Pennie And Aggie
Questionable Content (contains a very cute soft butch character)
Striptease (same artist as Punch an' Pie)
I think thats about it. Ive read more, but they havnt been good enough to keep me coming back.
Of course, though, I can't go without plugging my own comic *shifty-eyes*
Orange Hat Girl.. psudo super-hero lesbian. Updates resume Dec 1st.
Also, a good site to find lesbian comics is Online Comics. It has a "gay/lesbian" and "Shoujo-ai" catagories to search... the latter having more lesbian comics than the first, obviously |
And two i forgot to add in the original post
Pawn - very silly, very funny. Only bad thing about it is the artist takes literally over a year between updates.
Otenba-Files -on hiatus of late though, unfortunately.

This is awesome! Thank you. I was looking a couple weeks ago for lesbian web comics, but had a hard time finding any. I did find HEARD, but it's pretty new.
I do already read QC, and have been for a long time now. Love it. Just wish there were more lesbians. I think Faye and Dora should be together. hehe

I really like Bitter Girl. If you go to the author's site:
http://www.joanhilty.net/bittergirl.php
you can get links to several places where it is posted.

Hey Jude (..*blink* *resists urge to break into song*)
The Bitter Girl link you did earlier (gmax?) confused the hell out of me. It has no navigation buttons, and i couldnt figure out which one was the earliest comic...
Is there an archive thats a bit easier to read?

I know what you mean! Or Dora and Tai.. I always giggle like a madwoman whenever they're both "on screen", so to speak

I think that's the only site with an archive, and unfortunately, it's not up-to-date lately.
The other sites only post the latest, put the Seattle Gay News has an archive of old issues.
You have to go the the Arts and Entertainment section at
www.sgn.org
then look for the cartoon list on the left side for Bitter Girl, for each issue.
At the Gmax site:
http://gmax.co.za/play/cartoons/cartoon2.html
the oldest ones are at the bottom right, I think.

I'm not one for manga, high school themed works, or "serious" comics that have a storyline you have to follow, but I LOVE Yu+Me = Dream. I've been reading it for about a year now, I think.
I highly recommend it... just start at the beginning, as now is a bad time to hop in... we're right at the end of a serious plot arc.

We're going to have regular lesbian gaming comics on the site as well I believe. All being well they should be up every week or so. They're on the front page yay. Pretty funny the first one as well lol. So cute.

I LOVE El Goonish Shive!! I also read Venus Envy (although it's rarely updated these days) and Venus Ascending (a spin-off of Venus Envy, more frequently updated). My attempts to keep up with Punks & Nerds has kinda waned from a lack of updating.

comixThanks for all the info. I have been reading comics since I was a little girl. I just recently was looking for a comic with a lesbian character. I had heard a year or two ago the new Batgirl would be a lesbian. Anyone else hear this? Anyway, great info, I'll be sure and check out all the comics mentioned.

Hmm, I thought there were more but I seem to have lost my bookmarks. Anyhow, a tip for finding more comics to read is to go through the links page of comics you like.

Actually, it was Batwoman at DC comics. There was a story line in the 52 series with her and ex-cop Renee Montoya. But they chickened out and didn't give her her own comic book after all. Renee Montoya got her own mini-series called Crime Bible (now ending, but you can probably find it and 52 in graphic novel format).
Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore, and Jane's World Collection by Paige Braddock (actually by a lesbian ) are good stories with a lesbian main character, and are available in graphic novel format, too.
Hope this helps.
