Comments and Links (Friends of Lesbian Gamers .com)Hey guys!!
just quickly, the forums are thriving, but the comments on the main site need a little forum member input. We've got a few regulars over there (thanks guys!!), but we really need more. Comments let us know what articles are of interest and they also show external sites if our site is dead or alive at a glance, they won't come in here to see all the great discussion, they'll just look at the main site and go 'oh'... we're sure you know how it all works.
So... on the offchance any of you read a story on the main site and like it, hate it, think it's funny, useful, irritating or whatever, can you take the time to leave a comment. We only post 1-2 news items / articles a day, so it's not much to check!!
This will help us greatly in wooing companies for competitions for you our lovely members--amongst other things, like visibility that we'll need to keep the site thriving.
Our latest article is the Women in Mass Effect piece, it's an exclusive and took many many hours of faffing.. get on it there as we're hoping Kotaku will pick it up today, assuming the boys club over there can cope with the idea!
Thanks guys!

Okay, I will try. But I dislike being redundant, and try to avoid it as much as I can. That said, I don't really know what I can say about the Mass Effect banning besides the condemnation which has already been rightly expressed.
On behalf of the community and myself, thanks for all of your hard work on the site.

Kotaku has turned into one of the worst gaming sites on the internet, I honestly don't know why people still use it. It used to be a hub of interesting gamer info, now all they post is letters to each other, links to whoever is in their 'clique' and rarely anything of interest. I used to check Kotaku every day for my gaming news, now I'm lucky if I hit the site once every couple of weeks.
I wrote to them about the Mass Effect article, as it is JUST the sort of thing people WILL be interested in and it's an exclusive (??) as you say, so we're the only site that has it. I just checked this morning and it isn't there, but there is plenty of other 'filler' on the site, thus my earlier point 'clique'.
PS I always come to the main lg site before dropping into the forums.

Kotaku is a vile den of misogyny. I stopped reading them entirely several months ago after I got fed up with their blatant and shameless contempt for women. Every single post that features a woman in some way shape or form always includes some sort of editorial commentary on her looks and finds a way to demean her, and the commenters just spew hatred left and right. Ugh. I really fucking hate Kotaku.

LOL go Oliemoon.. you vent grrl and get it all out there.
I'm not overly fond of them either to be honest, it seems like a mens club.. no.. a boys club. Valid points ladies, it's a shame nothing will be done to change it though, that's why sites like LG need to press on regardless and hope for user support and loyalty I guess.

HAHHHHHHHHH Lovely comments Oliemoon.. lovely!
Feeling the same way with them at the moment. Just feel so jaded with their reporting right now and definitely think it's a boys club. Shame really as there's some nice guys over there, oh well.

Yeah, but that's the problem, they're all guys.
I have sent through to them numerous tips for really interesting articles from the sites I frequent, but they never get picked up. Could it be because they're girl gaming sites? I actually think it is. So what does that tell you about the Kotaku "Journalistic" code of ethics. They're biased AND sexist.
I was over there earlier and they are reporting on a lot of rubbish that isn't even half way of interest. We should bombard them with links from here and see how long it takes to be heard.

Honestly, most of the time I don't read gaming articles unless someone links them to me because I generally hear stuff from friend via word of mouth. The closest thing to a review that I look at would be Yahtzee's Zero Punctuation over at The Escapist, and that's mostly for comedic value rather than actual reviewing.
Actually, I kinda lie. I flip through the gaming magazines at work from time to time if I'm on a break or the like.[/url]

I'd be interested to know how many people on the forum here are actually reading the articles on the main site?
I always read them because I know they're interesting to me as a lesbian gamer and there's nowhere else putting that kind of stuff up. I don't want to be the only one leaving comments though LOL.
Let us know whether you're reading them. I know I'm desperate to comment on those morons that were talking about Gears of War 2.

I'm reading them.
A suggestion, though:
Have the link for the Lesbian Gamers logo at the top of the forums go directly to the main page of lesbiangamers.com rather than to the foums.

ditto me in on everything you've ladies said about that friggin' K site.
that's why i searched and to my astounded, giddy surprise found the ThumbBandits site and this site... searching for sanctuary away from those nasty boys. a place where women and lesbian gamers can connect without ridicule and oppression from boys. yeah, there are a few good men out there, but i don't always want to share my gaming life with them, and need/want to spend quality time with the girls.
grrls rule!

Comments and FRIENDS of LESBIAN GAMERS!Hey guys,
wow the forums are buzzing, great to see grrls all chatting gaming.. nice one.
We could use more people commenting on actual news posts. Anyone that can spare those few seconds it would be awesome.
Also if any of you have blogs, websites etc would you link to lesbiangamers.com?
Seems quite a few places are being more than a little adverse to the idea of having the word LESBIAN on their websites (Gods forbid). We will be setting up a 'Friends of Lesbian Gamers' section shortly and any one of you guys linking to us will get a link back and if you like a little blurb. Just email Tracy (lesbolicious AT mac .com) with your site and one sentence blurb once you've linked to us.
Thanks!
