Diablo 3 announced

Not sure if any of you have played (or currently play) Diablo 2, but I've spent many a year playing D2:LoD (it seems to be an addiction that goes in phases) so I'm totally stoked that Blizzard finally announced Diablo 3!

Apparently they're in their 4th year of development so hopefully it doesn't take too much longer to complete Razz

Official website has a trailer and a gameplay video and other stuff. This site has some more tidbits. Joystiq has an interview with the lead designer.

Of course, this makes me want to play D2 again... except to get my install discs I'd have to visit my ex... so I think I will just continue playing Guild Wars for now. Razz

Was just looking at the official site just now. I don't play Diablo 2 but I think I'll try Diablo 3! Surprised

I'm [i]almost[/a] as excited by this as I am for Fallout 3.

I've started playing Diablo 2 again, haha.

Far out, this game is all anyones talking atm in the world of Last Chaos. Im gonna have to try it out simply because of all the hype, not because i've actually ever played it before lolz.

Looks pretty good!

I liked the other Diablo games.

Very Happy

I was actually looking at the official site and videos a few days ago.  It looks very nice, but then it kindof looks like Diablo 2, but just with improved graphics and extra destruction.  I hope it has a bit more depth than that because I found D2 to be quite boring, with it's walk, hack, collect, walk, hack collect orientated gameplay.  I often gave up after defeating the first demon or whatever she was, in the monastery, the next level was just doing the same as the first, which I find really yawn-worthy, and promptly uninstalled it, both times.  These days it sits there gathering dust, along with Lord of destruction, which I never even began.

I'm totally gonna have to dig up my copies of Diablo 1/2 now!

I liked Diablo but not so much Diablo 2. I'll give this game a chance but I was really hoping they were going to announce Blizzard v. Westwood, an imaginary fighting game that allows you to play as characters from Blizzard games like the WC/SC/Diablo series and from Westwood games like C&C/Dune/etc series.

Muad'Dib versus Jaina Proudmore, Thrall versus Kane, Black Dragonflight versus those alien guys from C&C3.

It'd be AWESOME.

D2 definitely doesn't take much thinking... it's mainly about hunting down items -- if anyone likes collecting things, definitely check out Diablo 2. The other thing is deciding which kind of character you want to make and perfecting it. Perfecting meaning not just skills-wise but gear-wise.

It's kinda hard for me to pin down why it's so fun - but 8 players with mercs and some summonable minions laying down massive destruction on a horde of monsters... filling your screen with tons of graphics and hearing all those spells and attacks and cries all at once and making sense out of the madness & mayhem is just sweet.

Playing with friends is the best - everyone playing cooperatively (ie what's best for the party instead of just you yourself) and just sweeping up everything in your path while hopefully finding some goodies and enjoying each others company... I can do that for hours non-stop.

Looks good =o I don't know if its something I'd play though hmm
Point and click just doesn't work for me but if the rest of the game is something I'd go for then maybe. I'll have to check it out more ^^

I'm pretty excited about it.  Smile  I never beat Diablo 2, but I sure loved the first one... It was one of the first PC games I ever played too.  Good memories... of the butcher chasing me and giving me nightmares (I was Cool lmao
