Dr. Phil takes on (Online) Gamingso i loading my laundry into the washer when i hear my mom shout from the living room...
"You should watch this! It's about online video gaming addiction!"
now, i'm sure she said it mostly in jest but i'm sure part of her is not so happy i stay home on weekends half of the time and during that time, yeah, i do end up logging onto a game to run around for a bit, rather than going out. but unlike the people Dr. Phil decided to have on the show, i DO go to school AND work so sometimes, i just feel too damn tired to do much other than bounce around on a virtual world but whatever. anyways, watch, read and comment away.

Dr. Phil: Once again proving that it is easier to reduce people to stereotypes than to actually help fix thier problems.

yeah, i was kinda miffed that the wife, who believed that it wasn't so much that the games themselves were addicting, it was the fact that the people that were playing them and getting addicted felt like it fulfilled a part of their life they thought they were missing, didn't get NEARLY as much air time as the people who were against games.

Haha Dr.Phil... my Psychology teacher literally grimaced when someone mentioned his name during one of our classes. He basically says what people want to hear. =/

Confirming people's shallow and misquided world views is one of the best ways to stay on the air/get elected etc. Challenging preconceptions can also work in entertainment but is much more difficult and requires a skilled proffessional.
