Smoogles how do u find DOMO, I see it everytime i log into Aeria and think mhmm maybe lol.

I've played a number of MMORPGs over the years, and if R.O.S.E was still free then that might have been the one I was still playing. That held some interest for me, for quite some time.  It had a large user base, the graphics were nice and cute.  It had a large land, quests, and crafting, as you'd expect to find in any MMORPG these days.  The only things which made it different really were fun, and gameplay aspects,a long with the whole social-fun thing.

These days DoMo fills the gap rather nicely.  It has cute graphics, events almost every day of the week, including user created events, a very large user base, numerous quests, a variety of locations. Fun, a lot of social, and good humoured play.  No gold spamming for more than a minute, (they're kicked and banned as the G.Ms are actually present and able.)  I could go on making a list, but all I can really say is, out of all the ones I've played so far, including the realistic looking ones, and right down to the MUDs, DoMo has all the things I really would look for in an MMORPG.  It is free, and you can get a lot of fun, and played hours from it, and probably meet a lot of friendly people along the way.

It does have certain negative bits and bobs, as do all MMORPGs, but I think they are quite minor things that only people who compare it to games like Warcraft expect.  And of course you get all the chauvinists, and 11 year olds that you would with any other game, but thankfully, the G.Ms are present a lot of the time, and there is a G.M channel,a nd you can blacklist people.  But DoMo isn't rife with such problems I've found. Indeed it's quite quiet compared to my own expectation, and many others.

I've been there since closed Beta, and while improvement is slow, it does come in time.  And while there is a cash shop, the items are often sold in game by players for game gold, including pets, costumes and many other objects, all obtainable by most peeps.

I like it enough not to have left for any length of time beyond recovery, and have made friends with a lot of people over the past 18 months or so, and have had fun., which is what it's about for me, fun with company, and exploring, etc. It's all there,

When I played Last Chaos, I found that I had such major attacks from the lagasaurus,  especially in the town square, it froze for extended periods of time when I ended up there, and certain aspects got very old and boring quite quickly (and as for that dungeon in town, ugh, how is anyone supposed to really do that, gosh?)

Domo has it's lag too, but it really is very minor compared, or I find it so with my connection, and I'm linked to the servers, wherever they are in America from my little computer.

DoMO has definitely something I've seen advertised on many an anime and/or gaming sites and while it had piqued my interest at times, I was generally still very attached to another game iI was playing at the time so my trying it kept being delayed again and again. It also didn't help that no one I knew had given it a try and told me what they thought about it, which counts for quite a bit in my book. Well, at Smoogle's suggestion, I went ahead and finally downloaded it to try!

Character creation is pretty simple and somewhat minimal in comparison to what other games offer these days but still fun. I have yet to see a complete carbon copy of myself a la RO but then again, I'm also still stuck in the newbie gear so yeah... n.n; The characters themselves are fun to watch and look at, especially when they're doing emotes or even their 'idle' animations. So far, my favorite emote is either Shrug or Disdain.

Overall, the game has a very cartoon-y/anime-ish look and feel to it. I do like very much that your character actually DOES have dialogue and interacts with NPCs other than just accepting quests. I kind of wondered what the whole 'movie mode' thing was about but considering the way the game is played, it makes sense. From the get-go, you're given the part of being the person who could possibly help bring the world back into order, and sure, just like any other MMO, you know that they're selling the same story to every other person but having the cut scenes does help to create the feeling that YOU are making a difference, whether you're The One or not. In other words, i'm having fun with the game and it's kooky dialogue. The whole 'everyone being able to have pets' thing is also a pretty big plus.

Of course, there's always room for improvements. My list is as follows:

1) Quest progress tracking - ESPECIALLY for item drop ones. Sure, it tells you what kill you're on but not how many...Monkey Butts or whatever you've collected. It's pretty much a standard thing in MMOs these days, even in freebie ones.

2) Keymapping - I cannot begin to express how much I HATE the Auto-Run button being the Number Lock key. WHY?! The fact I can't switch things around kind of irks. Granted, I'd likely onlly change that one key, unless it would allow me to do the other thing I wish it could do which is...

3) The option to use the #'s instead of the Function keys for Hot Keys - It's a small complaint but I do really prefer using the number keys over the Function ones, if not just to spare myself a bit o' Carpal Tunnel fun. x_x

4) Only 2 characters per server? - Only 2 character slots? Really? Is there a way to even like pay for more? Then again, I guess it tries to kinda make up for it by doing something similar to FFXI by letting you have a main job and a subjob of sorts. Still...for an alt-aholic of me, that's kinda boo~

5) The Love Connection - Is there NO WAY to turn off the heart beating thing? I didn't even know what the hell it was the first time it went off and it was only after I noticed the icon flashing above my character info that I realized what it was. Also, I'm assuming that this game only has hetero coupling/marriages?

6) The Item Dialogue is covering the speech bubble... - SOOOO many times this has happened... Definitely needs a way to have that just show up in the chat log or to the side or...SOMETHING. Also, the World Announcements being chimed at me that often gets a bit tiresome after a while as well. A check box to say 'I've heard this already, please don't remind me' would be pretty nice.

That's about all my slightly alcohol'd mind can remember for now. Will post more as memory reboots itself. As I said, overall I'm getting a kick outta the game but there's definitely room for improvement.
nekotine

oh, i remember now...

7) Quest Markers on NPCs - We sure take those !'s or whatever the MMO you play uses to signify that that NPC has a quest you can do for granted sometimes... Sure, I could take some time to walk up to every NPC in the game but oi vey...
Smoogles

But the quest is usually listed in your journal.  Or the quest peeps are just in the entry-way, of the dungeon/cave/funny looking dimensional space.

Num lock isn't the only way to auto-move, you can also click on the mini-map when it's up large, and you'll run/fly there.

Again, in your journal you'll find the quest stuff, and also in your inventory.. you get blue-ish text pop up on screen to tell you if you have enough monkey-butts too. Very Happy

Are you still on Domo?

Would anyone like to Join me on there and do some wandering and stuff?

I'm presently on both servers, so just let me know what your char name is, and we can get jiggy. lol. Not in that way.. Razz

Frances

I have DoMo on my comp, only opened it up once. It hasnt been deleted like so many other games, but I havent convinced myself to re-open it yet either. I guess i dont like the real cutesy feel in games, i prefer a bit of grunt
