Favorite videogame themes?Gametrailers released a list of the ten best videogame themes ever, and while some of my personal favorites were on that list, others werenīt, so I thought it was a topic worthy of starting here: What are your favorite videogame themes?
Iīll have to say my favorite is the Tomb Raider theme, itīs not as magic or catchy as the Super Mario Bros or Zelda themes, but it sums up the feelings I get while playing the TR games at their best, just hearing the flute part alone is enough to get me giddy.
The main Super Mario Bros theme is definitely at the top of my list though, as are pretty much any music piece from a SMB game, theyīre just to catchy and joy-inducing, though hearing them constantly can make you want to throw something at the speakers, just to make them shut up.
The Legend of Zelda theme. Itīs just magical.
The Final Fantasy theme. I first heard it when I started up FFVII (my first FF game), and it continues to make me melt to this day.
The Sonic the Hedgehog title theme (as well as Green Hill Zone). The first Sonic game is the only Sonic game Iīve played, but I like the themes so much I have them in my cellphone playlist (along with the themes listed above).
The Silent Hill tracks. Too many to list, so just watch the Silent Hill movie, they use just about all my favorite tracks in it.
The Metroid title theme. So moody and chill-inducing.
The Metal Gear Solid theme. It didnīt arrive until MGS2, but itīs militant bravado just sweeps me away. I actually like the theme more than the games.
There probably are lost of 8-bit era themes Iīve forgotten to list, but Iīll add them as I remember them. So, then, what are your favorite videogame themes?

The God Hand theme, though there are actually a few different tracks that could be called the game's "theme" ("Be Ready for It," "Gene's Rock-A-Bye," "Broncobuster," and the credits are all competitors--"Be Ready for It" is the theme that plays on the title screen, "Gene's Rock-A-Bye" is the main character's theme and plays during the first stage and prior to beginning later stages, "Broncobuster" is the theme that plays whenever you unleash the God Hand, and the ending credits theme is simply unforgettable.)
Incidentally, Kung Fu Jesus recently did an LP of the game on Something Awful and posted all of the music; if you go to this page: http://forums.somethingawful.com/...0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 and scroll down to the Music section, all three of "Be Ready for It," "Gene's Rock-A-Bye," and "Broncobuster" are listed under Stage 1, and the song that plays during the credits is listed under the Final Stage (the one that's just labeled "God Hand"). Granted, the ending credits theme is a little spoiler-y.
A few alternate links for the last three, though I wasn't able to get one for "Be Ready for It":
Gene's Rock-A-Bye: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53F7IFUot6g
Broncobuster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laXEXXUOZi8
Credits (actual video, spoilers, lawls): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAga2AjfZlg
For the record, I favour "Be Ready for It" and the ending credits, myself.

I second Silent Hill. I especially love the Silent Hill 3.
Also, Metroid 2 on gameboy, and Out of This World on sega.

Same here. As you can tell by my banner, I'm a huge metal gear fan and I think the themes of the game is much more entertaining and enticing that the actual game. Although the game play, or what game play they HAVE in the game is also very fun and addicting. I think the CqC technique in that game is awesome.

aeris's theme from ffvii.
that's a haunting theme.
in fact the whole ffvii score is the best games soundtrack ever.
although the halo and mgs2 themes fit the games so well.

Silent Hill IV'S theme, "Room of Angel", which is really far creepier and more poigniant than anything in the game itself *sulk*

Totally agree - the aeris theme tugs my heart strings each time I hear it. I can still picture the materia falling into the life stream in time with the music

I always enjoyed the Final Fantasy X and X-2 themes more than any from FFVII. Having said that, the music in that game was to die for . . .
As for others, if anybody has heard the theme to Worms on the original Playstation (or Amiga, whatever; that game really got around), I hope they loved it as much as I did.
