FIFA 09This is a pretty cool game, very nice animation etc. If anyone else plays this, can you explain to me: exactly what is the deal with football? I think if I understood it more I might be better at playing the game. |

Well I like the FIFA games myself and while I don't understand many of the rules I know that you can't touch the ball with your hands unless you're the goalie.
When you get penalties you have freekicks and that's about all I know. |

Most definately, Fifa 09 made a serious come back I stopped playing the series a couple of years ago and stuck with pro evolution soccer (a.k.a winning eleven). Then bam, I got fifa 09 and I have to say I'm sticking with it for a while. Overall you should get the most goals in the back of the net while playing as fair and obeying the rules. Well what exactly you after, just clarification of the rules and/or purpose of it all, including some of the great features on fifa 09 (like live season)? |

Well like, how do i change formation/strategies in game? I have the logitech dual pad. I'm pretty sure there's a way to get my pc controlled squadmates to help but idk. Also, what's the "trick stick" the hot topics thing refers to? Right analogue? I was also asking about footie strategy in general because I'm not that familiar with the game but after watching some matches online I think I get the general idea. It's just a bit weird coming from American football where I know what defensive plays defeat what offense plays, how to execute moves on offense/defense etc. I finally understand the rules about the ball going outside and why it's sometimes a good idea to kick the ball out of bounds on purpose. Tackling seems odd but I think I have a pretty good idea about what is a penalty and what isn't. |

Well I could try and explain but that might take like forever, but here's a link to get you started

Kicking the ball outside or away from your goal posts is called clearing. Usually done to give your defense time to stop an attack. Ok for tackling, you should always aim for the ball especially sliding tackles.. Say if you tackle just for the hell of it, that's a fowl and you'll give away a free-kick and possibly get a yellow card. And if you tackle in a one on one situation where a player might score, 98% of time, you'll get a red card and be sent off. So like I said aim for the ball. But yeah that link should help you out, anything else just ask. |
