Final Fantasy XIII??

Anyway, while on 4chan... We were discussion on Final Fantasy (which died off). It's been discussed in many dedicated FFXIII forums (most of them were "fer the lulz"). So this is what the discussion is... "What if Lightning is a lesbian or bisexual?".

At first I was all "SHIT THIS IS TOTAL WIN!!! LOLOLOLO111!!!ONE!!!", which then declined slowly into nothing.All I keep reading is "Bad idea", "ewwww", "LOL, too many people won't like it"..." blablablabla LOLOLOLOL".

The worst comment I always read is "It's too early for SE to risk it, it won't happen. Maybe in the future, but not now". Usually it literally means "I don't want to see that kind of content ever". Now when they say "in the future", seriously WHEN is that? I mean if they keep saying "in the future" or "it's not the time", it really means "never". I haven't seen any NORMAL, as in "me gay? so what?" gay, lesbian protagonist in North America (video games wise). I think that having a gay protagonist in one of the FFXIII games, would be a GREAT start (due to their hype).

Yaoi fangirls are fangirling about the Versus Prince. However, if WE (and male yuri fans) spazz about Lightning being in a lesbian relationship is total win, we get the big "NO" sign. When I look for FFVII art, fics, "fav couple", it's almost always "CLOUDXSEPHI" or "RENOXRUFUS". While the TifaXAeris is mostly underground, as in "hard to find or barely any, cuz it fucking is".

Let's be honest for a minute, FFVIII and FFX, it was all PURE "Guy meets girl, Guy saves girl, Guy gets girl, LOLOLOL END". All the relationships in the Final Fantasy series has been straight so far, what about shaking things up? Besides the whole cliché thing. One can argue about SE re-using the same formula and switch genders. However think about the FFXIII plot, then think about how a homosexual relationship can be with the current plot (maybe it is one of the reasons why people are cast away to Pulse?...). IMO, it adds MORE to the formula and adds controversy in the world of FFXIII (LOL FORBIDDEN LOVE MUCH?).

I hope that Lighting turned out to be leasbian or bi, too, but I highly doubt it's gonna happen, Square Enix wouldn't take a risk as big as that.

As for the FFVII pairings.. I have to admit that I'd choose Cloud/Sephiroth over Tifa/Aerith any time. It's not because I'm a big fan of yaoi, it's because VII doesn't have any good female characters. Aerith? Nah. Tifa? Nope. Yuffie? Definetily not. To me, the gender doesn't really matter, it's about the character.
But you're right about yaoi fangirls; many of them act like they accept gays, but they only like yaoi because two guys look hot together.
