Girl FriendsSince the new chapter is out, and I haven´t seen anybody talk about it in this forum, I thought I´d do a spot of advertising."Girl Friends" is a yuri manga by Morinaga Milk, she´s done lots of yuri short stories in the past, but "Girl Friends" is her first ongoing series. The main character in "GF" is Mariko, an introverted teenage girl who´s been living a quiet life, not really being a social type or being interested in things like makeup and partying like her other classmates, but one day she´s approached by a girl named Akko, who calls her "Mari-chan" (much to Marikos surprise) and asks if they can walk home together. Akko turns out to be quite a character, a complete extrovert and Marikos direct opposite in almost every way, she takes her out to eat, compliments Mariko on her hair, and talks her into getting a makeover, something Mariko reluctantly agrees on. And once she sees her new look and haircut, she at first thinks she´s been set up for humiliation, but Akko is ecstatic about her new look, and introduces Mariko to her clique of friends. And so begins a new life for Mariko, a life quite different from her old one, where she goes shopping for clothes, gets makeup tips, and also slowly finds herself thinking about Akko quite a lot, and getting jealous at the thought of Akko hanging around with other girls, much less getting a boyfriend if she doesn´t already have one. It doesn´t take long for Mariko to realize she´s fallen in love with her new best friend, but thinking she doesn´t stand a chance with Akko, she decides to keep her attraction a secret and savour every moment with Akko. But how long can she keep her true feelings down? Chapter 18 was released in Japan just recently, it´ll probably take a couple weeks for the scanlation to appear. |

The good news: Chapter 18 is now scanlated and available. The bad news: We have to wait until late February/early March for the next chapter. We can just hope the wait will be made easier with the scanlation of the two short stories from volume two of the collected Girl Friends mangabook. | ||||

If it's a story I'm hooked on i'll just keep reading the older chapters over... and over  or pick up a new story to keep me busy. Between www.thespectrum.net and www.onemanga.com I ALWAYS have something to read

I wanted to ask (w/o seeming like an idiot) if Bleach is manga or simply anime? Cause I used to be really into the show then I missed a few episodes, couldn't catch up with the story, and stopped watching. |

I just finished chapter 18. I'm so addicted!  It will be hard waiting for the next chapter, but the short stories will make the wait more bearable. And at least its still being scanlated. I've been waiting for a new Hourou Musuko chapter forever, and I'm not even sure if its scanlation team is still active.

Bleach is both a manga and an anime.  I've been reading the manga, but I've only seen a few episodes of the anime.

the manga is definitely better, imo, although it's kinda nice to see all the characters walking and talking, especially with their fantastic seiyuu... morita masakazu, shinichirou miki... sigh... how i love thee... |

Same here  If I could at least see the Japanese raws i'd be happy, but I can't find those either.

I wonder if the manga is on hiatus?? And Kotonoha (the scanlation team) hasn't scanlated anything in a long time. I don't really know what's going on. I need more Hourou Musuko! *stomps foot*

I'm still waiting for something new to come out.. In the meanwhile I'm reading Vol. 1 of Pita-Ten that a friend of mine let me borrow so I could "get into character" for our cosplay ^^;; I dunno if I'll actually will cosplay as Shia or that I will go with what I wanted to do in the first place XD
(For anyone who watches Michiko to Hatchin, does anyone know when episode 11 will be out? I soo want to see the rest!) |

Toradora! Maria + Holic Maria-sama ga Miteru Season 4 Kurokami Regios I'm watching all of these right now, including Zettai Karen Children. =) Just picked up Yozakura Quartet manga vol 3 ('cause I"m slow and lazy) Again, Hime is awesome. Oh, and the first volume of Hayashisa Shizuru's Hayate x Blade is out. OMG, that yuri manga is HA-LARIOUS. XD Read it. |

The next chapter of Girl Friends is finally out, now it´s just another months wait for the next one. And it seems we´ll be getting a triple dose of Morinaga Milk this time, as she´s also provided a back up story (yet to be scanlated) for the second GF volume, and a story for a new yuri magazine that lililicious will be scanlating. | ||||

I could imagine it continuing at least until chapter 28, as each collected volume has been 7 chapters long. And also, Mari evidently still hasn´t realized Akko loves her back. | ||||

A Spanish blog claims a Girl Friends anime series is on the way, but fans doubt this, as A) there has been no mention of this on Morinaga Milks own blog, and B) the screenshot has subtitles on it, leading them to speculate that it´s faked. Either way, here´s hoping it´s true.
