GirlFest 08Anyone going to Girlfest 08 up on the Sunshine Coast in Australia? I went last year and it was pretty cool, but I'm not sure I want to spend the money to go again this year. I enjoyed the comedy and the film night, but all the mad drinking and partying at the pool on the Saturday was a bit much for me too be honest. It felt a bit like schoolies week or something. Anyone else thinking of going?

sounds funsounds like a good time....if i was in that area i would def check it out....for now i just get my party on in the states.....tonight i finally get to check out the scene i have been itching to check out since my move to Mass....and they are filming a documentary tonight....sweet....i am also a documentary nut....

Sounds like a blast, it's cool that you have a 'scene' in your area. I have lived in a few places where there was just nothing, well maybe one 'gay' bar which is of course completely packed with gay men.
Here in Queensland, we've got a pretty good scene in Brisbane, but not so much on the Gold Coast where I am.
Do you go out on the scene a lot?

the scenei use to go out all the time when i lived in albany, NY the scene was so so.....but it was the scene....lol the same people all the time....Now that i am in MA like the gay state of USA i have only been out a few times....but it is soooo much better here....like harvard law school last weekend held a bash on there campus for the GLBT community with an open bar and no cover....there is all sort of GLBT stuff....i have mostly been active in the queer/trans community which is a change for me...but i am learning so much! they things like queer-e-oke night. gendercrash which is like open mic night and you can do what ever you want when you are up on stage....last night at one of the clubs they were filming some sort of queer documentary...it was hot! i got to be in it...if i go back later today i can be in it even more if i want....i am kinda out groing the bar/club phase....i partied pretty hard last night...and this morning i am all yucky....so i much rather hang in with a bunch of friends and have a few beers play some games or go out to dinner with friends and have a beer or two...but i do however enjoy a big lesbian festival or camping trip! and P-Town is insane over the summer i went up there so many times this year....its like the biggest GLBT mecca i have ever scene and it is beautiful!!

I have always wanted to go to P-Town, but have never managed to get there yet. It looks awesome and I love that it's just this cool queer town.
When I was at Uni there was no GLBT stuff happening, it was pretty depressing. It's nice to see more and more visibility for lesbians in a variety of different social areas. Rock onnn

Sounds like a lot of fun...if I didn't live all the way in NC. I actually hadn't heard of it before, it might be something I check out in the future.

Yeah I think they get quite a lot of oversea visitors now actually. I guess it's a good way to combine a trip to Australia and a bunch of hot lesbos LOL
There is no where in my mind that seems like any kind of bad deal.
