Heroes

I can't beleve their isn't already a thread for the fox show Heroes. I came to post an observation and I couldn't find an existing thread. I love this series. I've been attatched to it since the first episode of the first season. Okay so here is my observation:

Spoiler Alert!!!!
(please highlight words so you can see them)

Based off of the 3rd season 3rd episode: Did any one notice what Gabriel named his son? It was Noah. I found this very interesting because Syler worked with Claire's stepfather for a while. Syler must have respected her stepfather a lot to name his kid after him.

I pointed this out to my family and they were amazed that I caught it. I speculate that in the future Claire's stepfather died and Syler/Gabriel named his kid in honor of him.

That all being said, was anyone elts confused as to why Peter wanted Syler's powers. Peter all ready has his own power that is better than Syler's. Peter can do what Syler can do but Peter doesn't have to kill in order to do it. So Why did Peter want Syler's powers? I think when Mohender tolled Peter he needed Syler's help Peter took it the wrong way but I don't understand how Peter could take it that wrong.

End of message

With regards to Sylar's power: One fan theory which was never REALLY confirmed but often supported by the show is that Sylar is a genius who can figure out how things work. "Things" like mechanical machines, the human brain (how he gets powers, he figures out how their power works and then modifies himself), and possibly the space-time continuum. It would seem that Peter believes if he has Sylar's power to figure out how stuff works he can figure out which events happening at which times cause which events in the future.

He wants to know which butterflies to step on, and which to spare.

Heroes tries to avoid Superhero comic book cliches for the most part, but they couldn't resist the ol' "mad scientist who experiments on himself and turns into a horrible monster" storyline.

I'll be honest i don't concentrate on hit plot that much but to me it really felt a little bit out of character that he suddenly shot himself up with powers. Previous seasons had him pegged as kinda righteous.

Does anyone else think the shows relying to heavily on time travel. its been the big disaster in the future kind of situation in each season.

Yes, the story line is focused on time travel, but I think that makes it interesting. Hiro time traveling is done a little differently, which I think is kid of cool! He can slow time down...etc.its awesome..!..and I wish I could blink and time travel...lmao!.. This season looks really interesting and I am excited to see where this goes..!

Thanks for that observation. I know Syler could figure things out but I didn't think Peter would use the "Power of Observation" in that way. Very interesting.

On another note, yah, I do thing they are relying on the "eminent doom of the future" to much. They have lots of comic books to draw from. They could take stories from any of them. Right now all Peter has to do is step on the right butterfly and everything could turn out good. Not a very dramatic saving of the world if you ask me.
Thefremen

If I draw an analogy from the first entry in Superhero films, we're still in the first 45 minutes of the film. If you look at it, the entire reason for these eminent doom in the future storylines is the characters who can time travel haven't exactly figured out how to put it to good use. When Kyle Raynor first got a Power Ring there were a few storylines about problems which arose when you suddenly give God-like power to a mortal overnight. I could go on to talk about when Hal Jordon almost remade the universe in his own image but the point here is that I think these first couple of seasons have been about what happens when you give humans abilities, can it be a good thing even for the most well-meaning of people?

This season it seems like the idea is to try and define heroes/villians. As far as borrowing from comic books I think it probably won't be too long until they introduce deus ex machina like super powerful beings/races from beyond the stars.

I am liking this season, yet I am still confused on who is good and who is "evil" in the future and present.
Peter and Nathan's dad and mom are really confusing me. I am not sure what they are up too...

Smile

I am excited for the new episode tomorrow.

Those who are loyal to the show..

I just have to say it was a unique second half of the season

What does everyone think of the season finale?

(for those who have watched it)

Will Sylar remember????

I  think I like him better as Spock..lol

Thefremen

It is...Logical for you to like him as Spock more. The character is much better, his acting is much better too.

I think the next season will be Fascinating, Hopefully it will be pretty awesome and I totally think Sylar will remember.
I Vitality I

Its kind of creepy..to think what is going to happen..

I agree, much better acting as Spock!

I think if the script/writing for Heroes is fined tuned, we will get some more viewers back for next season...lol

I can't stop talking like I'm tweeting lol.

Heroes hopefully will be awesome in the next season, I'd expect to see Sylar remembering who he is, hiding that he remembers and killing/disabling people who realize he's back to his old self. Meanwhile the scooby gang will hunt down the White Queen wanna-be and deal with what to do about her and the old dudes who hunted the mutants down.
Thefremen

Gretchen and Claire kiss in the next heroes. Will this mean anything other than something horrible will happen to Claire's new friend?
Seeress5200

Well, if her track record is any indication, things won't go well. Her last roommate is a perfect example.
Babycha

I haven't seen any of the new season yet! I guess I'd better catch up online.
Mercy Medical

Thus far this season has been a mild improvement over previous seasons, but after last night I'm really loving where they're going with everything.  They seem to be focusing a lot more on slow story, with heavy character development compared to previous seasons where it was fast paced story with big action scenes.  I think character development is key in this series, so it makes me happy to see that they're focusing on that more.

Not really sure who has or hasn't been keeping up, so I'll post my next comments in white to prevent from spoiling anyone.  If you're interested, just highlight over the text (whoops, looks like I got stuck with a grey background on this post...IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER)

When I first heard this past summer about a kiss between Claire and her roommate I had an epic eye roll and instantly thought "jumping the shark" and that it would be Heroes scrambling for more viewers (mostly of the male variety.  After watching last nights episode, i don't really think that's the case.  I'm really enjoying how they're writing the Gretchen/Claire storyline.  It's only been a couple episodes, but I think they're writing it really, really well.  Claire isn't making a decision one way or the other and it's allowing the sexual tension between the two build like crazy.  I'm actually sort of into the relationship and hoping it works out in the end.

Now, while I originally thought this story line might be Heroes reaching for more male viewers, I actually think it's them reaching for the LGBT audience.  I've noticed a lot of TV shows this year have LGBT characters in them and not the typical LGBT characters and stereotypes of the past.  I feel like Hollywood is recognizes that there is a HUGE audience out there in the LGBT community that wants more storylines like that.  Granted, we can always get them on Logo or shows like The L Word (although that is done now), but for the most part there have been a few cliche LGBT characters here and there on mainstream cable, but not to the level we're seeing today.  I think that's a huge audience and Heroes writers recognize that and want to capitalize on that.  It also makes me happy to see so many more LGBT characters in TV today.  It's been a long time coming and makes me feel like I can relate to a lot more shows then I ever could before.

Oh i effing love heroes. Followed it since forever and i really agree this series is an improvement from the last. I was pretty dissapointed with the last if im honest it seemed to be kinda rambling on about not much at all. This series they seemed to really get it back on track again.

Spoiler:

When i first saw the kiss in the trailer i was also peeved. Since the end of last series i figured it was a fan grabber too. Made me really have low expectations but they really surprised me. At first i was afraid because they seemed to be sidelining claire in the first few episodes. I was scared they were just gonna use her as bait with absolutely no relevance to the main plot so i was really happy to see the kiss was actually well tied in to the rest of the story. Wasnt just a "woah she kissed me, lets laugh it off and ill continue going to class and being boring while everyone else is having kickass storylines" deal. Also, sylar...very cool.

...AND there it went. Goodbye lesbian love affair. Still, it lasted longer than I expected.

The new rule for this season is if they introduce a new character, he or she will die within 3 episodes unless they are deaf.
Kat_Edw

ROFL
Nimbo

well here's to hoping that a deaf lesbian will sneak her way into the show.. at least she would be pretty good with her hands.. oh ya i went there xD
