The first full trailer is finally here!

I saw the new bond movie, and at first I didn't know what movie this was..until the boy said his name..

J.J Abrams looks like he will do an awesome adaptation of the Star Trek Franchise!

Wow that was the most insane thing I've ever seen in my life! Sylar was Spock, no question.

I was wondering what they should do with the franchise but I think it seems like now would be a perfect time for a series re-boot ala BSG. Star Trek: The Original Series should come back with this kind of vision.
Rynnbow

I just watched the trailer. epic. omg I'm super excited! Two awesome nerd movies coming out next year, star trek and watchmen.

A series reboot is a great idea fremen!

Brilliant!

Anything  J.J Abrams does is fantastic!

Damon Lindelof will be part of the team writing the sequel!

"Abrams’ Lost cocreator Damon Lindelof will join Fringe producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman — who penned the upcoming release — to write the screenplay for the follow-up, according to Variety. Abrams will return to produce the next installment, but no decision has been made about whether he’ll also direct.

Lindelof said he hopes fans don’t think he and his colleagues are getting ahead of themselves. “There’s obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn’t even come out yet,” he said. “But we’re so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed.”

Kurtzman is eager to get fan reaction before deciding which way to go, but the trio hopes to deliver a script by Christmas for what could be a summer 2011 release.

Orzi and Kurtzman are currently working with Lindelof on Dreamworks’ Cowboys and Aliens."

My boyfriend and I can't stop talking about the movie so much so that we put it on our calendars. We were psyched when CBS started putting the original Star Trek episodes online in HD. But, I'm more of  a ST: Generations kinda girl.

I have a copy of the graphic novel that's been released for the movie and I want to get started on that soon.

Has anyone else read it? Or, the novel movie tie in?
KiernanOClare

I have yet to read the count down comics, but I hear they are excellent!   Amazon just released a compiled version.  So I may give it a go soon (Time is drawing near!)

At first I was concerned like others (cannon issues), but as more information has been made available I'm officially stoked!   movies.yahoo.com has all of the trailers on one page.   As well as the scene where Kirk meets McCoy.  Epic!

There was a showing a few weeks back and the majority of the people that got to see it then said the movie was awesome.

I even got my mom excited and she's a huge trekkie.

My daughter has been saying she wants to watch it. IDK about that, content wise, but she did like Voyager.
I Vitality I

When I saw this video, I had to go out and buy this issue of "Wired" magazine.

I am still working on some of the puzzles..

This issue is what J.J Abrams is all about..

Because of this I will wait patiently and not spoil the season finale of LOST.

On a show like LOST...the finale deserves to be secret..until I watch it.

WOW!

This movie was amazing!

I might have to see it again!

J.J Abrams vision of rebellious Kirk and a Fresh bridge crew was amazing as he respectfully upheld the Star Trek legacy!

I couldn't think a better actor to play Spock than Sylar from Heroes!!!!

It was cool to see the origins of how everyone ended up on the famous NCC-1701

With comedy, action and an awesome story..it definitely makes for a MUST see movie..even if your not a trekkie
Babycha

I LOVED it!!

Cool

Hmmm, there is a couple of spots where there is just a "bit" of language.  And a brief scene with two women and kirk in his undies.

Guess it depends on age  I think it was PG-13 (but can't remember)  Either way if she can't go, you should!  Its freakin' sweeeeeettttt!!!!

Should be OK for her then.

awesome.   My mom made the comment earlier today that they were discussing it on a Christian Radio station, and they said it was suitable for teens and some tweens.   I guess if it passes their standards its a decent movie.   Yahoo Movies has a "mom's" review link that would be able to help even more.

Wow. Yeah totally ok for my daughter, especially since Ohura will be doing more than just standing around.

Speaking of trek, anyone seen the preview for the new John Travolta film? He looks just like Evil Jonathan Frakes.
KiernanOClare

Oh trust me, she does more then stand around.   They gave her that historic strong female role in this movie like TOS.   However, it just didn't "feel" like her.  I guess that grace that Nichele Nichols has was just missing.   Even at her age, she is still as graceful and beautiful as ever.  The new Uhura just isn't "pretty" enough for my taste.

Nichelle Nichols was a huge babe...Yeah my daughter and I watched most the movie, but after the Hoth part she kinda got scared and had to leave a bit after. My mom picked her up and I watched the rest.

Very very good movie, I can't wait for the TV show/sequel.

Also, we didn't see Nurse Chappel so there is still a good chance to have a new Nichelle Nichols-esque nerd crush. Hell, maybe someone will be gay/lesbian (which some trekkers hate the idea of but come on...).
KiernanOClare

Hmmm, I think it will be a while before we see a gay/les crewman.   We were close during the DS9/Voy era, but I'm afraid now their only concern will be building the fan base.  And you are right, there are a good number of folks (our folks and sr8 who are against it).

I have a feeling we wont see Nurse Chapel due to the recent passing of Majel. she was a babe during her early chapel years as well.  <3

I saw this tonight.  I really enjoyed it, though I really don't know much about Star Trek beyond pop culture references.  I didn't really care for the actor that played Kirk, but I'm also not a fan of Kirk.  Can't stand that archetype.  Also, Spock's mom was Winona Ryder!

But yes, Rider was Amanda Grayson.   Shockingly, she looked better to me "aged" in makeup then I have seen her lately.   Although a short part, she did well.  As a fan of TOS, I always enjoyed the interaction between her and spock.   Like I said it was short, but I feel she embodied the character well.

Yeah, Amanda Grayson was p. cool in this. I actually never really liked Kirk until I saw this one, but Dr. Bones really grew on me. I finally understand why he's my dad's all-time-favorite star trek character. Hopefully this movie will make a bajillion dollars so there will be a sequel or the TV show will reboot so we can see more character development.
KiernanOClare

Ah, an answer to my prayers.   So far its pulling in the cash.   The ball is in Paramounts court.  Hope they don't screw it up again.

Seven of Nine was meant (from the writer of the characters side) to be bisexual, which makes perfect sense. But of course the *bleep*'ing bigshots behind the show just didn't want anything like that. And a lot of the cast through the ST era has worked to bring a homosexual character into the mix... But the force is strong with those on top of the iceberg. Some trekkers, gay or not, work quite hard to get gay characters on the screen, so there is hope for the future of Trek. Razz
KiernanOClare

Agreed.  And folks can say what they want, but there WAS sexual tension between Janeway and 7.  Lol, I know Im not the only one that got that idea!

And yes, they have tried.  There was to be a gay member of the voyager crew (not 7), but it got scrapped when working on the concept. From what I understand it was Braga and Berman that shot it down.  Now that it is out of their hands, who knows.   But I dont see it happening if we do get a new series. Not in the beginning at least.   Of course this is all my own opinion.

But, this is one case in which I would love to be wrong!

Ro Laren was going to be a Lesbian but Braga and Berman shot it down. Those two idiots who drove the franchise into the ground are now out of the picture, which is why the movie was so awesome. I say next movie/show episode personally.

Also Ro Laren should have been in DS9.

I like Ro Laren.
TinGirl

Managed to finally get to see the film at my local Imax,

All I can say is WoW!!!

I've never been a huge Trek fan (dons flame proof suit) but everyone leaving the cinema had a smile on their faces, a great film even for non trek fans. Like a few of the franchise reboots we've had over the past few years, this vertainly has done a great job.

The casting was inspired, nice sprinkling of humour, and a good story.

I want to see it again!
