Lesbian Gamers donation - Chip In doesn't work with Firefox?I had to switch to my Safari browser (I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.9) rather than my regular browser, Firefox, because when I went to the Chip In page from the link on the front page of LesbianGamers.com, it wouldn't let me type anything into any of the empty slots (not amount donated, name, anything except choosing a country). And when I tried it would go to an error page saying I needed to type in an amount to be paid first.
After switching to Safari, the Chip In button took me to a PayPal error page, so I had to copy the link an paste it in the location slot of Safari before it would go to the Donate to Lesbian Gamers page, where I was then (using Safari) able to fill out the form and donate.
It seems maybe these types of problems could be keeping people from donating?
I don't know if these are Mac problems or mozilla-based browser problems, but there are a lot of Mac users here.

I used the credit card option rather than a Paypal account. I wonder if that makes a difference?

It shouldn't, but I haven't tried donating by credit card. I donated by PayPal using Firefox running on Ubuntu Linux 7.10

Hmm, just tried again (without going all the way!). It seems to be working now, letting me type in info. Maybe it was just a temporary glitch on their part....
Well, this thread can still be used for the poll.

Wipe that embarrassed face off right now, and turn it into a
These things happen on occasion. How is Safari compared to Firefox? I've never used Safari much, other than on the Apples at my high school last year, although I never turned back to IE after I discovered Firefox!

Well, are you going to vote in the poll?
I prefer Firefox to Safari, except when they update it and it's glitchy until the next update. It seems to have less trouble loading weird sites, has all those cool add-ons, and is easier to clear of personal info than Safari. I haven't really tried the others (except IE), but people have told me that Omniweb is good, but it's not free.
I used Internet Explorer for Mac OS 9 since Netscape had not been updated properly for the Mac, and there really wasn't any other good choice. I hated it. Now, although I boot into OS 9 sometimes, mostly to play older games and use old art programs, I always surf the net using Firefox in Mac OS X. I try to avoid putting Microsoft stuff on my Mac, anyway, so I would have used Firefox or something other than Internet Explorer, even if Microsoft had not quit updating and supporting it for the Mac.

I did vote in the poll, actually. I am a Firefox fan, through and through. It works very well on Windows Vista and Ubuntu Linux alike. It seems like Mozilla pioneered the tab surfing thing, which rocks the house, but then IE co-opted it and made it suck.

I wanted to firstly take the opportunity to thank all of those people that have donated thus far. I'm sure anyone that runs their own website will know that it can be costly with domain name purchases, monthly server fees, software fees / hosting etc.
Secondly I want to let you all know that ALL monies accrued from the donation function on the page will go directly into the site and not into anyone's pocket. We're hoping to cover the initial setup and running costs eventually, but also should we become massive and have a larger donation tally each month, we will be arranging competitions with prizes for members. So additional donation funds that overspill the setup and monthly running fees each month will be put into something for the members (prizes, postage for prizes etc.).
Hope that made sense.
We'll see about changing to a better donation option after the 16th which is when the Chip In widget runs out I believe. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Well, it seems to be working now, so it was probably only a temporary glitch. Don't change it on my report unless you have been getting a lot of other complaints, too!
