Most hours you've played a game for without a proper breakHey All,
The article on Lisa Loeb from Lesbian.geek mentioned her longest time playing a game was 4 hrs (Tetris on the Gameboy). I reckon we can beat that. Well, I know I easily can. So the question put to you all is:
What's the longest time straight you have played any game (can be pc/mac/console/handheld/whatever!)
I'll start. I used to play WOW and was only ever a very casual player (I don't play anymore and don't even have a Level 70 character) but I happened to be on holidays one time when they opened a new Aussie server so I rolled on that and got into the whole new player on a new server frenzy. I played around 12 hrs straight that day and have to say I had a ball, though I wouldn't want to do that regularly like some players.
Anyway, what's your longest stint and what game was it?

I'd never really thought about this before (actually i think I've intentionally pushed it far from my thoughts lol). Ummm, when The Sims came out (yes, the original one) on PS2, i played it non-stop till I finished. In total it was something like 15-16hrs, cause i brought it round lunch and finished just before breakfast.
I cant do that anymore but, I get computer eyes after about 4hrs and I start looking like I'm stoned lol

when i first got guild wars. i did a like a 14 hour marathon....... i felt sick after wards. and very lame. so i never did it again.
and when resident evil 4 first came out..... i ate my dinner while playing... i played straight for two days untill i was finished.
now my longest tends to be about.. 3- 4 hours and then a good break... my girlfriend would kill me if i played any longer.

I got final fantasy X around christmas break one year and most of my friends were out of state so I pretty much would just play that game all day then sleep and start it up again, pretty sad really. I couldn't say how many hours straight that was... would rather not know actually

about two days straight the first time i got GTA: San Andreas only getting up to go to the loo!! And nearly as much same time when Scarface came out!! I know sad but with games like that, I feel the need to clock it instantly or i wont sleep properly!! addict much?

My life revolves around doing this sort of thing, with work, as well as play, as I work from home, being freelance, and never wanting to put the pen down until the project is finished, same with games, if I like them, then I buy them, also if I like them, I play and play,a nd.. well you get the idea. I did the same witha game or two I had to review once or twice for someone....
I so need a girlfriend, *sigh*...

Omg I did that when I started to play Guild Wars, I'd get up, game, grab a snack or food, eat at the computer and play until I couldn't stay up anymore. I swear I could hear the PM chime in my head when I wasn't online.... o_o
I also used to play ff7 and ff8 obsessively, I'd die in ff7 from falling asleep while playing x_______x

I have no willpower when it comes to games, so there are quite a few games (Lineage II, The Sims 2, Guild Wars, Red Alert 2, Age of Empires...) that I sat and played for hours and hours, only away briefly for basic hygiene and biological needs.

Unfortunately I used to be forced to stop playing when I went for long hours on my ps2. Now though I just go on and on on GW because I can xD
When I closed my eyes I'd see GW, made it damn hard to sleep too lol. My sound is always off though so I never heard the PM chime

WOW!My longest streak was on WOW as well. I have done about 16hrs on WOW a few different times. I think my back was hurting the whole next day after that! It was when I was close to hitting 70.

Super Mario Bros 3 - on the NES
from 7pmish friday evening until 3pmish sunday afternoon - thats about 44hours of gaming, with little more than food and toilet breaks. certainly didnt open the curtains to worry about what time of day it was.

Without food/toilet breaks, I think my longest gaming run was a 10 hour Skies of Arcadia run. With occasional breaks and a nap here and ther, I've had Ragnarok Online runs that lasted for days.

The first time I played through Final Fantasy VII, I completed the game in about 58 hours. I finished it in two sessions.o_o;
I'm an insomniac, you see, and back then it wasn't diagnosed and thus I had no medication. I didn't need to sleep and I never really ate much.
The longest since (I guess more along the lines of a sense of normalcy, since I've had my perscription?) is either FF VII, Xenosaga, Disgaea or Starcraft, each of which I'm absolutely positive I've played for 12 hours in a row at least once before. Now and then I take a celebration holiday once a year or so and sit and play FF VII solidly through as if it were a movie. Same with VIII, Xenosaga and Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. <3
But these days (past couple of years), I've really tried to focus my free time more on coming out into the world a little. I remember months passing between catching a glimpse of daylight and it can wreak havoc on the psyche. -_-; I figured I may as well -try- to have some friends at least since relationships are clearly out of the question for me.

Right after I built my dream gaming computer (thanks to the hefty tax return check I got last year) the first game I put on it was Elder Scrolls Oblivion. About a week later my partner left for a few days for a business trip, and it's never a good idea to leave me home alone with a new game. I played from the time I got off work (3pm) until 8am the next day.
Needless to say I had to call off work that day
But worse, after just 2 hours of sleep I got right back up and started playing until about 5pm. And even after a near 24 hour marathon, I'm only about half way through the game

I'd say about 10/15 hours. Although I can't pin point one game, I'd say GTA:SA, I definitely played a lot of that when it came out! I usually have 'gaming sessions' where I'll sit and play on a console for abour 10hours or so but I'll swap games as go.

Games played without a breakOh, jeez! Well, I had to play an incredibly stupid Mickey Mouse racing game for the Game Boy Color back in the late 1990's, when I worked as a game tester at Nintendo. God, I played that moronic game for nine hours a day for THREE weeks! I wanted to throw it across the room, and I know I wasn't the only one.
But for fun, I played The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King on the Nintendo DS for about 16 hours! I got up to pee and maybe grab something to eat but my entire attention was riveted on the adventures of Legolas, the elf. I love his character. He could snipe enemies from far away with his bow and he didn't end up dying as much as the other characters. Forget Frodo and Sam! I played them and died every other minute.

I love how Metal Gear Solid 4 tells you to take breaks after a few hours. Apparently it's dangerous to play for too long
As if I'd listen to a video game.

HA I love that you called in to work to play a game! I totally relate but I've never had the balls to do it
