Lesbian FilmsLately, me and my girlfriend have been watching a lot of lesbian themed films online. It's free and instant, so that's why we opt for the online watching. We've been finding films from mainly Alluc.com, as it has a good range of gay/lesbain films. But we've also browsed through Veoh and Watch-Moviees.net.
We've seen Lost and Delirious, which was a great film, would reccomend! When Night Is Falling, But I'm A Cheerleader, and perhaps a couple of others, I can't remember!
I would like to watch Happy Endings and Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her, yet I can't find them anywhere! I've looked on YouTube too, yet no success.
I was wondering if anyone knows any sites that allow you to watch movies on them or give links to where the parts are. Perhaps one that has an extensive gay/lesbain section?
Also, any reccomendations on other lesbian movies?

Unfortunately the user that uploaded all these movies was suspended on youtube...

umm well there is dailymotion.com does not have specifics. and logoonline has been uploading movies onto it. also if you try typing in alternet ways of wording the title it changes the outcome.
movies you should watch Tipping the Velvet, Puccini For Beginers and Grey Matters i know alot more but dont remmber the names. you can find them all on youtube except for puccini for beginers if you just go to logoonline.com and click films you can find it.

My personal fave is Better Than Chocolate as well, although I <3 The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love (with Laurel Holloman as a baby butch! So cute!). But I'm A Cheerleader is campy as heck, but it made me fall in love with Clea DuVall for the first time.
It's hard to find good movies (or much of any type of media) that have 2 women in a relationship or something along those lines! NOT FAIR! GAH!

Alright, here's a list of some of my favorites:
Saving Face
Excellent actors, original plot, stereotype-free.. what more could you ask for? The movie was sweet and didn't try too hard to represent all lesbians; it was just love story between two girls.
Fucking Åmål (Show Me Love in US)
This was actually the first lesbian movie I saw, which is why it has a special place in my heart. Even though the plot tends to be a little cliche, it's all done so realistically that you can't help but relate to the characters and their lives.
Loving Annabelle
Such a beautiful and sad movie - we should be proud of Katherine Brooks, she never fails at potraying lesbians. And it was nice to see a relationship between an older woman and a younger woman for a change, it's a pretty rare sight.
Ci Qing (Spider Lilies)
This movie was a pleasant suprise for me - I was expecting it to be good, but not that good. The unique story really drew me in and the characters were well-developed. And damn, Isabella and Rainie are hot.
There are also plenty of movies I love that feature lesbians, but don't center around their relationship - Mulholland Drive and Monster are great examples.
Oh, and I also want to mention This Movie Is Not Yet Rated, which is a documentary about MPAA's rating system. Among other things, it discusses the disparity in rating homosexual and heterosexual movies, and also interviews Jamie Babbit, the director of But I'm A Cheerleader, and Kimberly Peirce, the dirctor of Boys Don't Cry.
Everyone should check it out.

hmm just about all of the movies i know have been mentioned except for Love/Juice and Love My Life, which are both Japanese.
Love/Juice follows two roommates, Chinatsu and Kyoko, who have a friendship so close that they don't mind sharing one bed in their small place, but the friendship starts to waver when Chinatsu starts to develop stronger feelings for Kyoko, while Kyoko starts to crush on a guy. it's rather artsy fartsy and while the ending is fitting, it's a bit sad as well.
Love My Life is based off a Japanese manga of the same title and follows Ichiko, who's in for a shock of her own when she decides to tell her father the shocking news of her relationship with Eri, her first girlfriend. it's a rather cute story and it doesn't stop at being 'just a lesbian' film. it's as much a 'coming of age' film as it is a 'coming out' one since both girls are university students and struggling with the whole 'what do i want to do with my life?' troubles. it also helps that the soundtrack is pretty awesome with Noodles providing their alternate rock sound.
as for where you can get them, you might want to check d-addcits, though the place i know for sure you can get both is the jdrama community on livejournal but you do need an LJ account to access their downloads.

I have just one lesbian movie that I didn't see listed here but I love dearly.
The Gymnast, it's a great movie and who wouldn't want to see two hot women doing aerials in skin tight suits. I must say that I've fallen in love with Addie Yungmee and I want to have her love child!

Imagine Me and You, lovely little film with Lena Headley in (mmmm.. she's Sarah Connor in the Sarah Connor Chronicles if anyone watches that).
There' also:
Gia (with of course, Angelina)..
If Walls Could Talk 2
Erm... probably loads more I can't think of right now. Just whatever you do, DO NOT watch Go Fish. It's written by (and starring) Guinivere Turner and Rose Troche from the L Word, but seriously, it's awful. It was the worst 2 hours of my life, lol.

I watched Kissing Jessica Stein last night. I was good, but not great for me. I was a bit disapointed by the end even thought it is a good ending. I was very very suprised by the 18 and over rating. There is absolutely nothing it there that we don't see in heteosexual movies for 13+ ratings. They even close the lights the minute they go farther than kissing.
My plan is to rent better than chocolate and Bound.

Saving Face is one of my favorites;
and to go along with Finger Smith the writer also wrote Tripping the Velvet which was made into another made for TV movie.

I still promote DEBS as being the best lesbian movie ever. Angela Robinson is my hero.
Though if you want serious movies, Saving Face is probably one of my favorites. Love My Life was also very, very good. Seriously, if you want to watch a rare movie without any stereotypical angst that's cute, find subtitles for Love My Life and watch it. Or read the manga. It's so angst-free (for the most part) it's almost frightening. It's almost...realistic, I daresay.

Yeah it came out last year. I was a little wary at first because I thought they'd put some weird drama in it because it was being made into a movie, but no...it's cute. Refreshingly so. They made Ichiko a little girlier than I remembered but aside from that, it was actually fairly well done.

I recommend Red Doors, it's not a specifically lesbian themed movie, more of a dysfunctional family type, but it has lesbian characters and a happy ending =)
oh and I've found some lesbian movies on tudou.com, it's kinda like Chinese version of youtube but with less copyright restrictions =)

IMHO I watched the movie on YouTube. Wasn't as good as the manga but still cute! The acting could have been better but there being a movie of it is better than nothing at all!

some quick reviewsFrom a list someone posted earlier...
Bound - See it now.
Show me Love - Cute film, I liked it
Tipping the Velvet - Mini Series, quite good
Kissing Jessica Stein - Cute and fun.
Lost and Delirious - depressing ending, but worth it for Piper
Better then Chocolate - Mmmm Christina Cox
But I'm a Cheerleader- Campy fun, and Ru Paul not in drag
Gia - Angelina Jolie and Elizabeth Mitchel
Imagine Me and You-More Piper, fun film
High Art-drugs/depression/Ally Sheedy. Decent
Desert Hearts-One of the old school lesbian films, still good
Incredible adventures of Two Girls in Love-Love it
Julie Johnson-Courtney Love? Still decent
Go Fish-weird/artsy/worth viewing
D.E.B.S-More camp, completely fun.
Mullholand Drive-very odd film, but I liked it
Girl Play-small independent film, I liked it though
Boy's Don't Cry-Hillary Swank won an oscar for this
Claire of The Moon-Ummm, worth it just to see how far we have come
Monster (if you count it)-Only if the story interests you
Some others I am aware of....
Bar Girls - Bad Movie, really bad, but fun to watch in a weird way
Rent-Musical with several gay characters including a lesbian couple. Probably better if you haven't seen the stage production
Eulogy-dysfunctional family gathers for a funeral. Includes lesbian couple.
Prey For Rock N' Roll - Part of the Gena Gershon Lesbian Trilogy. Her character is bi here.
Showgirls - part of the Gena Gershon lesbian trilogy, and a completely terrible movie.

Oh, awesome thread! Now I have more lesbian movies to watch. Yay! I'm going to watch Love My Life when it comes out on Netfix. It looks really good.
I've seen Tipping the Velvet, Fingersmith, Imagine Me and You, D.E.B.S., But I'm a Cheerleader, Bound, Saving Face, Loving Annabelle, Desert Hearts, Truth About Jane, The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls In Love, Boys Don't Cry, Better Than Chocolate, Show Me Love, Kissing Jessica Stein, and High Art.
And its not exactly a lesbian film, but I recently saw For The Bible Tells Me So. It was a documentary about the clash between homosexuality and religion, it followed several christian families who discovered they had a gay/lesbian child and showed how they dealt with it. I thought it was very moving, informative, and inspirational. I highly recommend it.

I saw Love My Life at the sydney mardi gra film festival this year, a few months ago, and loved it also. The only thing that marred it for me was the stupid stupid and ignorant trio of girls behind us that kept making snarky comments and laughing at it for the cultural differences.
Another one that we saw that I really liked was Butch Jamie. It had a bit of a "low budget pet project" feel to it, but damn, it was hallarious.

Ha yeah it's a great one.
I like Aimée & Jaguar a lot. It's a German movie. Berlin during WWII. It's the story of Felice, a Jewish women living under a false identity who meets a woman married to a German soldier...
I know the war theme can put off, I don't like war movies myself. But I love this one, it's more about two people with nothing in common who fall in love with each other.

There was one called Sappho that came out either this year or last... I only got like 2/3 of the way through it because it was really bad.
There's also a Woody Allen film coming out, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, it has Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson kissing.
There's Big Dreams in Little Hope with Julie Goldman... it's not really a gay film per se but it's more of a buddy film where one character happens to be gay.
