Olympics

I just thought that there should be a thread for Olympic stuff.

so, did any one see the opening ceremony? I really liked all of the performances. And that stadium is amazing!

I always get so excited about the human race being the best they can be. Pushing boundaries, breaking records and stuff.

I know there are people from everywhere on these forums so good luck to all of your countries.

BTW I'm from America. Go USA!!!

The relay swimming race was the most amazing thing I have every seen!

The French thought they were going to smoke the United States. They were talking smack and all kinds of stuff.

They were a head for most of the race and just when I thought we had lost we just got a head at the last moment. The United States won by .08 of a second. It was an amazing win.

On top of the bragging rights the world record was completely shattered.

Its pretty sad the Olympics are over. It's also really amazing that China was able to spend something like 59 million dollars on the whole thing and were even able to keep people from protesting. Well actually they didn't keep them from protesting they just denied all the protest applications, sent those who applied to work camps and if people protested without approval they were detained and members of the press who captured photos were detained and had their memory cards taken.

With today's technology and with multiple members of foreign press who are used to having complete freedom of speech it's just incredible they were still able to so deftly control information. I guess it's just a preview for the kind of totalitarianism US citizens will be subject to if McCain becomes president.
