Saving games on a playstation3I'm new at this and having a hard time adjusting from playing on a PC to playing on a console.
I'm playing my first game on the playstation3, Ratchet and Clank Future: tools of destruction, and I'm having a hard time understanding the stratagy of how to save. On a PC I can save at a specific point in a game and come right back there when I pick up the game again. With this game I manually save (by using the start button and going into options and then saving) but when I come back to the game it like starts me out at the begining of the planet again or the beginging of a big long section. I kinda never know where I am going to be when I load a save compared to where in the game I manually saved.
Its a little hard on me for two reasons, one is I'm new to all this jumping around etc. and alot of the tasks are difficult for me so it takes me a long (and boring) time to redo a huge section to get back to where I was when I saved.
A different issue is the game seems to send you forward without you realizeing its going to happen and you can't backtrack and do things you haven't done yet. If I made a timely save and could go back to it then I could control the game shoving me forward before I'm ready but my saves send me so far back in the game from where I made them its just hard to keep the intrest in replaying sections.
The third thing is I have a limited amount of time I can play....I got a partner to think of and I can't hog the TV or play too late...It seems like you have to play to a certain piont unless you want to play it all over again the next time. I can't play a whole planet in one sitting and worse I have to spend a lot of my precious playing time going back over what I did before.
My question to you guys is how do I manage my saves via the auto save and manual save features so I don't have to redo so much stuff and how can I tell the smart places to manually save.????????? Help I'm finding this console experiance pretty flustrating because I have to play over so many area that it took me for ever to cmplete the first time and I keep getting pushed forward in the game before I'm ready.

I'm not sure about Ratchet and Crank, but for most of the PS3 games, you would have to find specific save points. Especially if they are games with seamless flow like Ninja Gaiden. Usually, these games will save at the beginning of the level you were playing at.
Hope this helps!
