Spore Creature Creator

Has anyone else downloaded the Spore Creature Creator?  If so, what are your thoughts about it?

I have just written a blog post called Does the Spore Creature Creator live up to the hype? for anyone interested in reading a review of it before deciding to download it.

I downloaded it yesterday, I have yet to have a look at it. It's just the trial verison though. I hope it's decent as I would like to buy the game when it comes out.

I played around with the trial version the other day.

*shrug*, I think the years-long hype has lost its appeal to me. It was okay, but surely not really interested me in the game. Creating never was my favorite part of the Sims, so why would it be here? It's cute, you have lots of options, but still, the number of things you can do is rather limited.

So far i've enjoyed it, I got the retail version, which i wouldn't suggest unless you really really like creating things. So far just messing about with it, i've made 30+ creatures and a few I thought were good. The tools are really easy to learn and use; the hardest part of the whole thing, to me at least, is thinking up names. It's also fun knowing that what i'm making is going to be seen by someone else once the game comes out.

I downloaded it yesterday and, as the creative young lady I am, I'm really enjoying it. Makes me want to buy the retail version, but I don't have an international credit card. =P

Creating the stuff is awesome. You can stretch, pull, twist and turn pretty much anything. For the names, I just googled an english-greek dictionary, translated two or three characteristics of my creation, then I combine the words the way I think they will sound cooler. The results are names like "Galadromea" or "Telouran".

Finishing your creations, though, is a bit frustrating, since you can't play with them. It's like assembling a really cool LEGO starship and then just placing it on a shelf and never touching it again. Can't wait for the full game release in September.
