Underrated games

which games you consider totally underrated? D:

well. I consider "Haunting Ground" /  "demento" very very underrated, its a horror game of course. but people are just so focused in action horror that they don't see the true games with rather f*cked up horror and scares...

also having a hot women follow you with a large shard of mirror is rather scary. o.e

so discuss those games you consider underrated, but are extremely good for you <3

I loved Skies of arcadia on Dreamcast mainly, then on cube.  It made me cry, not once, but twice. which no other game ever has.  It's really sad and emotionally involving in a way that other console R.P.G's like FF7 never were for me.

Another game I really got in to was Magic and Mayhem. The first one was just so much fun, but the point that let it down was the A.I of NPC's, as sometimes they'd go wandering off and often get themselves killed and there was nothing I could do.  Third time lucky was always the motto, and many hours were spent on this to defeat merlin.  Such a good feeling of achievement at the end.

Dragon Valor for the PS1. It's one of my all time favorite hack 'n' slash RPG's, but none of my friends that are RPG fanatics have ever heard of it.

@ Smoogles: I just started replaying Skies of Arcadia for the GCN. I <3 that game lots.

Omg, yay! I cried and turned into a big pile of mush when they killed the sky whale. Was sooo sad.

This gen, I think that Mirror's Edge is very underrated. I think it's a shame that it goes overlooked and didn't get the sales I think it deserves. In all honesty, I think it's probably the best game to have come out last year (not including mgs4, because that just wins by default Laughing). The art style is clean and beautiful, it has a wonderful theme song, and the gameplay is fun and refreshing.

Last gen, most underrated game I know is Killer 7. It's so "out there" that it's hard not to love it ^_^.

Rise of the Argonauts
the game is really good, the fights are very cool . Sword is the coolest weapon in the game. You also have God Powers who give special abilities. I can really recommend the game!

I agree with this one.

Also, Yakuza for ps2. A great game that didn't do so well here in the states.
NightSky

Every time a thread like this comes up, I always have to mention Ghost Master for PC. It was the coolest concept when I first heard it. Control ghosts to freak out everyone in the house. It's kinda the dark side of the sims. I owned the game since it first came out and still have it (one of the few PC games I actually kept). Unfortunately, it didn't get much publicity at all and so a sequel was never made. Sad But if you haven't played it yet, I suggest you do. It's short but it's fun and unique! Also, the original Black and White was a blast! Play as a good or evil god and get little people to worship you. Cool stuff.

*edit*
Woops, I just realized this is in console gaming. Ahh well! The games I mentioned are still good games worth checking out. Smile

There was a pc game am talking about 10 years ago that was awsome, called Phatasmagoria, that was the title in French. It was RPG where you move into a house and some strange stuff starts happening, your partner starts turning weird and you had to investigate the house etc. I remember the last bit of the game where your partner attacks you, and you had to take a bottle, hit it on the head and run like hell to one of the main chambers, we were with friends in front of the screen just screaming like hell trying to get to this room, it was soooooo funny!

This game didn't get much coverage, but it was soo cool for its time. Smile

I liked Majora's Mask even though most Zelda fans hate it.

Also there's this Wii game called Nyx Quest Kindred Spirits, which I adore. I hardly know anyone else who played it. It's a gorgeous game and probably one of my most favorite games ever.

NyxQuest looks interesting, I would try it but one small detail that annoys me is holding me back. I like Greek mythology and Nyx is the goddess of the night, one of my favorite Greek gods and the mother of my 2 favorites the gods of death(Thanatos/Moros) and slumber(Hypnos). I just can't get over the fact that they turned her into a little girl with wings, especially since she's such a badass that Zeus was afraid of her.  Confused

well if it helps, I wouldn't take the game seriously. More like a loose personal interpretation.

Also, perhaps they aren't the same characters but the name was borrowed? It's not really elaborated as to who Nyx actually is. Just that she's a friend of Icarus in this particular game.

However, Nyx from the game is pretty  badass, too.

It's a seriously wonderful game that's cleverly designed and really utilizes the motion controls in ways that really add to the gameplay rather that force some motion into a game. More developers should take a hint from the guys at Over The Top Studios. It's amazing how 4 guys from Spain created one of the best Wiiware... (In my opinion, Wii games, period)

Chibi-Robo, Harvest Moon...

Sorry, are those too cutesy?
Sniper Wolf

Psychonauts on the PS2 and Xbox - BEST platformer I have ever played, hands down. It's because of stuff like this and Grim Fandango that I can't wait for Brutal Legend.

Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3 - corny characters and story but one of my favorite strategy RPGs. Plus, they gave all your recruitable characters back stories and personalities rather than just making them generic soldiers guys. Love that.

The Shin Megami series - My favorite RPG series. The Persona games are just magical...

And on the PC... which is were I'm thinking of getting it. However I'm being patient on this one. I have too many games to currently beat.

Ooh, I didn't read the OP's post on the first page. Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda. Razz
