Whats the opposite of the midas touch?Hi Folks, I've got my ranty hat on here, so please forgive me.
I'm a voluntary area co-ordinator for a national charity here in the UK for folks with Rheumatoid Arthritis,
The first meeting of 2009 is Friday, and I had some guest speakers lined up, I had updated the website, made the posters and got them out to local hospitals and doctors practices.
This morning I get an email saying they can't make it, From an organisation that wants people with long term illnesses better manage their own condition.
I realise things can crop up at the last minute, but theer were supposed to be 3 of them and now we've got nothing. It's the third time speakers have cancelled at the last minute.. so now I'm feeling that anything I do turns to crap..
Just trying to do my best for folks...
off to try and salvage something, and thanks for letting me vent

Hey hon, sorry to hear your mum has RA too, I have it myself (which is how I got into my voluntary work) I've had mine since I was 26
I wouldn't wish it on anyone it really is a nasty horrible disease
So now I'm full of metalwork, due to various operations to replace joints damaged by the RA..
But I do my best, that's all you can do. I hope your mum isn't in too muc pain. <hugs>

She is and the saddest part is that we don't have health insurance so she just has to suffer through it... it gets so bad especially since we have a 2 story house.
I feel so bad some days, I wish I could help her.
And I'm saddened to know that you've had it since such a young age. I can only imagine. You have my prayer.
Thanks for the hug. -hugs back-

As someone who has RA, my heart really goes out to her, and I find it awful that your mum gets no help with it,
Despite all the downfalls of our NHS system, people do get care and I know how lucky we are.
All I can do is hope that your new president can change things for the people who NEED help with long term conditions, not just those who can afford it.
RA doesn't just affect the person, but family, friends and colleagues. It can be so isolating too.
Me, as I'm bonkers I do my best I must admit there's days when I've been crying with the pain,
Now when Skynet goes live.. I won't know who's side I'm on
Take care

Thank you for your concern and it's nice to know that people still do care and can empathize with others.
