Why Do You Come To Lesbian Gamers.ComHey everyone,
I'm writing a magazine article that will appear in top selling Australian lesbian magazine Cherrie in March and I wondered if any of you fancied letting me know why you visit the LG and what it means to you to have it here.
Some of your comments may be added into the article and will be attributed to you of course should you wish that.
Really just looking to see why you feel that the LG is important and what kind of service it's providing.
Thanks in advance
GG

it's a woman friendly sanctuary with benefits (women who also like to play with other women - not just gaming)

And I wasn't even looking...Smart move with the vlog on After Ellen! Wouldn't have found this place otherwise.
I'm not so into searching for lesbian gamers just cos they're lesbians, but I'll tell my partner about this place when she gets home from work. She's always looking for gay networks etc, and this one will take the cake I think:)
Lucky enough I almost never get harasseled when playing. And the friends I've made are all macho guys. Most of 'em soldiers. lol.
But they are very cool with who I am and if anybody says anything out of line then they protect me and my partner. But god knows not everybody has such positive experiences. That's why this is a great forum! A safe haven if you will.
Hanna: You shouldn't ever feel embarrassed! Fuck 'em!

Thanks guys to everyone who responded. I really appreciate you taking your time out for me. If your comment doesn't make it into the article I apologize in advance, I'm really running long on the word count for it so I'm trying to cut it right back. There will be other articles though ;o)
Peace

I found this site from afterellen.com as well and i was so excited to see other girls who enjoy playing games, not just rpg's but shooter games as well. Like I have only met like 3 girls that played halo 2 and they were some of the best players on my friends list. And when you join a party and win and you say somthing guys get all pissed and are like "You need to grow some balls" and it really gets annoying. I mean ya you get used to it but it just kinda gets on my nervs. And the fact that everyone is a lesbian is kinda neet also, i guess its just good to know that there are other people out there like you.

Feel free to quote me.It's a comfortable, laid back, non-competitive environment to talk about gaming. Also, it's one of the few "women's spaces" that I've ever felt like I belong in. I just feel so alienated by the rest of the Lesbian/Dyke scene (especially in my town, Washington DC)... but here, I fit in. Maybe it's because this place is geeky and the dyke scene in town isn't?
But, yeah, it's one of the few places in dykedom where I feel like I belong and I can casually talk about gaming or about anything, really... or I can get into an impassioned but respectful discussion and I don't feel like I have to be quiet about what I feel or believe. (I feel silenced by and threatened in most "women's spaces" for the most part, because I'm so very genderfluid and masculine. I feel that I have to keep my mouth shut for if I disagree, I risk getting kicked out. I don't feel that here. There's room for me to disagree, as long as I do it respectfully.)
