What a great idea! I think it is totally do-able. I've been playing wow for two years and it would be awesome to be comfortable being myself in a guild. I always have to not disclose my sexual orientation, and if you play a female toon people assume you are a straight female or a dude playing a female toon! The only time I've been comfortable in guild is when my co workers and I formed one and they all knew already that I am an out woman, but that disbanded a year ago. If anyone knows of one or is in one let me know!

Really? Im curious now, how many of you out there hide your orientation in games and why?
I'm more out gaming than i am in my real world. In fact, being out in games has helped me come out to friends in rl. I play WoW with a bunch of guys that i met in a mmorpg called Last Chaos, i'm the sole female, but it doesnt bother me and i love my guildies cause their just, well, awesome lol. Of course, it would be nice to have some girls, epecially gay girls, to game with but i just cant seem to find them

i always "come out" whenever i play games, its just a thing i do. and sometimes i even meet some other "out" girls.
and sometimes guys give me a rough time in the beginning, but its nothing that you cant 'earn' and just be 'one of the guys'. of course, there will always be the horny 12 year old with a smart lip, but who cares what a kid thinks?  |

Actually it's completely possible to screen people. First, Wow has a built in Voice chat system, so thats one way. Another is using vent (ventrilo) which is a voice chat program that works like a chat room. All of my guilds have vent.
Having said that, I don't think you need to screen people though. Just kick troublemakers and eccentrics. Other than that...if a guy really wants to pretend to be female that badly, whether its lesbian or straight or whatever, then i dunno...maybe he's trans? In which case wouldn't it be our duty to respect that? The T in LGBT does stand for trans afterall. lol.
