One advantage of people knowing that you're an artist is that you can be or do just about anything, and they will say: "Yeah, but that's okay, because she's an artist." Can't even count the times that has happened to me! So, being an artist, I just be myself and don't worry about it. I wish everyone could have that freedom. IMHO, much of the damage done in this world is by people trying to seem "normal" and wanting to fit in with the crowd.

Very true indeed...
One of the coolest artists I often wish I'd run into is Christina Cox's character from Better Than Chocolate LOL

I'm not butch or anything like that, I love being female. I may portray a bit of a tom boy due to my love of knives and video games, but I grew up with 2 older brothers who taught me none other, I hate stereotypes so I've succeeded in avoiding that. I'm really laid back and usualy lacking in emotions unless something insane happens to me. Some are surprised that I'm a les, others get it right away due to my Jolie obsession. Works for me. _________________

Have you seen her in the TV version of Tanya Huff's books, Blood Ties? It's a vampire show but I think it's probably being canceled. Lifetime TV put in on Friday nights at 11 PM and isn't advertising it. Anyway, Christina Cox (who Tanya Huff wanted for the role) plays a PI that keeps getting involved with supernatural cases. No lesbians on the TV show, though, and not even bisexual vampires and gay guys, like there were in the books... Still, worth watching, for the most part. Christina Cox plays a "real" fictional woman, no high heels, no little-girl voice, no frilly outfits on stakeouts, etc.

| I love Blood Ties, I'm getting the DVDs when they come out. I heard it had been signed for a second season, so here's hoping that was true. |

Wasn't your avatar a cow with glasses a little while ago? Or am I hallucinating? I hope you are right about Blood Ties and I hope it gets shown here.

i'm the sentient being known as Alana, who is part geek, part DJ, all me. sometimes a bit punk, sometimes a bit urban hipster, sometimes a bit raver, sometimes a bit homebody. i like girls so i consider myself a lesbian but of course, some would argue i'm bi as i dated boys in the past and can still look at a guy and say he's good looking, but when it comes to what i prefer to actually DATE, it's girls. i've always been fascinated by girls, really, but i guess i never really acknowledged/realized it until after high school. maybe it's because i finally had an opportunity to date a girl i liked, and until then, i never felt that any girl i had an inclination to would like me back the same way. oh, the drama. :3
when i'm hanging out with friends, i generally feel more like 'one of the guys' but that's not to say i'm utterly hopeless around my 'girly' friends. definately always been more of a tomboy and daddy's girl, favor jeans/pants/shorts and sneakers/boots to skirts/dresses and heels/clogs/etc, though dresses can be awfully sexy at times... i can be coerced to wear them for special occasions but if i can get away with it, dress pants and a button up shirt. maybe a tie. mainly this tie (yes, that's me... what? my friends wanted me to take a pic with the tie on. ) as long as i feel comfortable and can move as freely as i want to, i'm fine.
loved climbing rocks, trees and anything else i could as a kid, and often came into the house crying with whatever new scrape was on my person. was never a big fan of dolls but love my plushies and figurines (mostly anime girls). just about all of my anime posters feature girls or girls are the main focus of them. did grow up on a block with boys as my playmates and my big bro was generally cool and would let his GI Joes have tea and ice cream with my My Little Ponies and Care Bears from time to time, so long as I didn't lose any of the tiny plastic accesories. He also was the first to introduce me to TMNT before it was a cartoon so yay.
i dunno...i don't really consider myself to be butch or femme. i'm...variable? n.n; with a strong hint of tomboy. yes, that's it. :3 _________________ Currently stuck on:

I have seen some of these and I liked them. I'm also into vampire RPG so this was a cool combination for me. I think it's odd that she can look so butch sometimes and so not butch at others. But she has those big shoulders doesn't she so that in itself really means that she looks butch even when trying to look femme lol.
Yeah I also heard it's signed up for a second season. Here's hoping. |

I'm not butch, although I think I have a quality about me that you can tell I'm gay. Not sure what it is though, I think it could be my feminist views, but that wouldn't necessarily point to me liking girls. So I would put it down to how I present myself. Growing up I was very tomboyish, I loved football and was just into more 'boyish' things. Although as I've gotten older I've found myself more. Such as I do care about fashion (to some extent) but what I like, not what the media tells me to like. You can often find me wearing a shirt and casual jeans, I'm very much the casual type!
When I think of the word 'lesbian' I think a more girly girl. I think this might be because I'm more attracted to feminine women but it might also be because I'm open minded in the sense I'm not sterotypical. You're right, a lot of people do sterotype, it's like because you're a lesbian you can't like pink or like make-up for example. I think it's about time that people see that being gay isn't our whole definition of who we are, merely a small segment. |
