Its such a shame to hear of this behaviour in 2008. This isnt 1908, we should be moving forward by now. I would advise talking to the principal, If he should be a dickhead also, I should try talking to the education board about the neglection of diversity laws. I would probably then move schools, although the cowardly approach and I doubt that in the USA that it would be much different where-ever you went too school.
I am sorry to hear of your troubles and do hope that you may be able to sort something out soon...
Keep us posted.
Taping comments seems like a good idea, also keeping a diary of what happens and when can help any case. |

I definitely agree that you should report your teacher. There's no excuse for that and doing anything else will just get you in trouble and not help your situation at all.
It's really sad that things like this go on in our schools. No wonder our kids have so many emotional problems. |

Ok, I must admit that I'm a bit slow so I didn't know about this until today. What can I say,... I don't pay attention to the news. Most of the time it's just depressing. When I read what this "public official" stated to other "elected" officials... I WAS OUTRAGED! We - the tax payers - PAY her for THIS?!? To promote HATE??? I just needed to put my frustration out there to some friendly folks.

ya i actually had to do this extra credit for that class and it was like write a paper about a news article or something so i wrote it about that sally kern and she said it was inapropriate. and then 2 of my friends were trying to find out why 1 called the other a bitch. and the teacher sent them too the office for cursing. and they got a citation. but the next day this kid was standing infront of the class and called me a fagit right infront of her desk and she said nothing so i yelled at the kid, and i got in trouble. it was so dumb. so i started saying niger. not to be mean but to prove a point that to me fagit is the same as niger. and so she finally made the kid sign the book.

Man, that's really lame. I dealt with the same kind of thing at my school, but for me, it was a lot different. My parents already knew about my sexual orientation and I had someone else I could move in with, meaning I could go to a different school and make a fresh start.
So essentially I ran away from my problems like a yellow-bellied sissy and don't regret it for a second.
Honestly, something should be done about this, but I don't know who would be on your side or any of the details. You could always just deny the truth to your parents, but that would be rather dishonest. Still, you can't go wrong recording what the little douchebags are saying, because either way, it's still inappropriate behavior for a learning environment.
I really wish I could help. I'm sorry to hear what's been happening to you, sweetie.
