so since Cryptic Studios decided to sell all of the rights to City of Heroes/Villains to NCSoft...they decided to make yet ANOTHER hero/villain mmorpg, which was announced at GDC, Champions Online. the game seems to deliver everything that City of Heroes/Villains doesn't, which is mostly a hell of a lot more customization. like in CoH/V, you're able to customize your look and superhero powers (though CO seems to imply that you'll be able to create a far more 'original' look than on CoH), you can also change the color of your powers. so if you want to throw green flames rather than red/orange/yellow ones, it's not only allowed, it's encouraged!

another feature that was mentioned is that when you create a hero, you end up creating their arch enemy as well. kind of an interesting though i wonder exactly how they'll implement it into the gameplay. i figure they'll have more or less the same kind of mission/task force set up so that you fight XYZ villain of the day but maybe in the middle of all the commotion, your arch enemy will show up to mess up things even more? guess we'll see.

the look of the game tries to be more comic-like by using cell shading for characters and the environments. i lolz'd at them using the Comic Sans/something akin to comic fonts for the damage. really though, apart from some clipping issues that are common occurances, i don't think CoH/V looks all that dated. and so far, i haven't seen anything from the screencaps or trailer that makes CO extremely better in quality than CoH/V but to each their own?

there isn't too much on the site yet apart from the trailer, some screencaps/concept art and bios for what appears to be the two lead characters on the heroes and villains side. the forum is going so i made an account for myself. i'm hoping they'll have a beta, open or closed, so that i can really see if it's a huge leap ahead of CoH/V like they seem to imply. until then, i'm curious but not sold on it yet. :3
