|
I posted this on the thumbandits forum a couple of days ago, and although many people have looked at the thread, no one has answered. I hope I haven't already listed all the Mac/Windows games with a female protagonist that anyone knows of! Anyway, I thought I would try here.
If you know of any Mac or Windows games where the MAIN playing character is female, list them here, with any comments.
Jude
Here are a few that I can think of:
Tomb Raider series (probably the best known: Lara Croft, but not one of my favorites)
Kult: Heretic Kingdoms (the only choice for a main character in this RPG is to play a woman, and it's an interesting character to play)
The Messenger (also know as the Louvre--adventure game)
----------------------
There are many other games where you have the choice of a female or male character, but often the female characters are crippled in attributes or storyline options. Here are a few where they are not and the females are well-worth playing:
Diablo II (very addictive hack & slash RPG-type game)
Avernum series (old-school RPGs by Spiderweb Software)
Genforge series (old-school RPGs by Spiderweb Software)
Neverwinter Nights (RPG--there are some storyline differences, though, and many of the mods are male-centric)
Dungeon Siege (hack & slash RPG)
Quake III Arena (shooter) |

I'm sure there are a few but the ones I can think of off the top of my head that haven't been mentioned are:
Hellgate London (Can be played as a single player action/adventure/FPS RPG. I don't think there are any such limitations but I have yet to run through the game as a guy.)
Bloodrayne
D.I.R.T. Orgin of the Species (My friend wasn't impressed with this game at all...)
Nancy Drew (What? It counts, right? )
...I'm sure there are more but my brain is rather frazzled after many hours of running through the streets and subways of London. x_x; But a rather big surprise before I end this... While I heard the game isn't that spectacular, I would've thought they would at least allow you to make a female avatar seeing as females do indeed exist in the Shadowrun universe but alas...upon checking, there is no option to make a female character in the newest Shadowrun game. That just...makes my head explode...
I can think of quite a few console games but huh, I am having troubles with PC/Mac games... _________________ Currently stuck on:

@nekotine & becky 27:
Which of the games you listed (other than Nancy Drew, which does indeed count!) have ONLY female main characters, and which have the option of playing male or female, without bias?
I had forgotten about Bloodrayne (action/fighting), nekotine.

Hmm, just Bloodrayne and D.I.R.T. then, I think. Hellgate is a 'pick and choose'.
I asked my friend to help me out and he and I came up with:
Drakan (A/A)
The Longest Journey/Dreamfall (which was mention and is a continuation of TLJ, although I believe in Dreamfall, at some point, you do play a male character. A/A)
Secret Files: Tunguska (A/A)
Syberia I/II (A/A)
Return to Mysterious Island (A/A)
Keepsake (A/A)
Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express (A/A)
Still Life (switches perspective between grandfather and granddaughter. A/A)
Paradise (A/A) _________________ Currently stuck on:
