Not necessarily true. I bought the Japanese and Tagalog editions of Rosetta Stone and they work pretty well. Granted, I put more time into the Japanese one than Tagalog, but I have a basic grasp of conversation, beginner kanji and hiragana/katakana. I think learning a language is all dependent on how dedicated you are to doing it. People buy those books and things all the time, but it makes no difference if you use it the first day and then shove it on your shelf.
I'm at least happy that I can use my bitty bits of Japanese at my favorite bar in Japantown, SF. XD It makes the cute bartener, Mio, go all wide eyed and say "Ehhhh?? You speak Japanese??"

theoretically, one could also learn to drive entirely from watching videos of people driving...
That doesn't mean that most can, or that the vastly more practical course of action wouldn't be to get in a real car (or in the case of Japanese, go speak with real Japanese people) _________________

The Weight Loss and the Stop Smoking shovelwares seem like kinda far-fetched to me. Although the weight loss game does come with a pedometer that plugs into the DS...
I'm curious about the GTA: Chinatown Wars game. I'm wondering how the stylus will be utilized in the game, if at all... Otherwise it seems like the same old GTA crap, only with shittier graphics. |

Lol. Nice way of putting it. I hated GTA IV, personally, it took way too long to get into, I fell asleep (literally). _________________ "The only fate is the one we make." - John Connor from Terminator Salvation |

I haven't touched my Wii for a while now... only time I use it is when my niece and nephew come over- they love Wii Sports and the Raving Rabbids games.
Other than that... I've tried Red Steel on it (horrrrrible controls) and RE: Umbrella Chronicles. Now RE is fun but I'm a fan anyways so... of course I'd love it. House of the Dead 2 + 3 doesn't suck either!
But yeah.. the Wii is totally aimed at people who don't really game much or at all and small kids it seems... LMAO! |

I know that no one is really arguing about this anymore but I wanted restate that Nintendo isn't just for little kids. There are a TON of games (on both the Wii and DS) that can be enjoyable for adults.
I have China Town Wars and you basically just use the D-Pad and the buttons. The touch screen is used to select things on the map and little side things like that. It pretty much just goes back to the old style GTA games with the overhead view.
