i'm single just in time and several months ahead of Valentine's Day! whoo hoo! \o/
and i agree with vou.
though i think Valentine's Day sucks in Japan more than it does elsewhere because whoever (typically a girl) has to gather the courage to give chocolates to someone that she likes, and then she has to wait a month to see if the person she gave the chocolate too (typically a guy) gives her something back on White Day. _________________ Currently stuck on:

Ugh, I hate Valentine's Day. I mostly hate it because it's my birthday too, and it's so fucking hard to go out or do anything because of the Valentines crowds.
I've only been in a couple for one Valentine's Day, and by the time we got to Valentine's, it was pretty clear the relationship was going to end very soon. We somehow managed to drag it out for another month, but it wasn't a great month.
This Valentine's Day will be my 21st birthday, but since I'm on crutches, I doubt it will be fun at all . |

Don't worry girls, you can just put booze in your planner and just drink up the whole day, well that's what i plan to do. I've been in a fair few relationships on valentines, and I've always made plans for travel. We've travelled to Venice, Paris, Scotland etc but this year I'm being an absolute twat and disrupting other peoples plan, i really hate it when people emphasise on just one day to be romantic, it really pisses me off but this year is gonna be extra special!!! _________________ Vou zhuxi de guanghui - Long live Vou (lol)

lol me? i'll be doing school, doing a closing shift at work then come home to watch the episode of LOST on Valentine's Day!
ouch, that sucks, kerrigan. i know how you feel, even though my bday doesn't fall on Valentine's Day (though it's usually Memorial Day weekend...). that's pretty much how things went down on my last relationship, and it didn't help that her grandfather passed away a bit before as well. difficulties just kept Katamari-ing together. x_x;
and i'm with ya, vou. it's just about all holidays that are like that really. sure, there are generally feelings of wanting to do/get/buy something special for someone on holidays but underneath that is the whole 'feel obligated to' part of it, and that kinda kills it. doesn't help that commericials/ads constantly bombard you with the idea that you MUST get/do something special for people on holidays/birthdays/anniversaries as well... _________________ Currently stuck on:

As single as possible, and I highly doubt that the situation is gonna change before Valentine's Day. I really don't know what I'm gonna do that day, propably nothing special.
It's kinda strange that Valentine's Day is called Ystäväpäivä ("Friend's day") in Finland, even though in most of the countries the day is mostly about remembering your lover. Well, that's the way I see it, too, regardless of what it's called here. |

Mine's probably not quite as bad since it's two days after, but even on the 16th (my b-day), there's usually some crowds because it usually falls on the weekend after Valentine's Day, and some people like to wait till the weekend to go out to dinner for it and all that.
As far as my plans, I'll be at a convention, but my ex is going to be there, so I'm hoping things go ok. If all else fails, I can probably slip off for a drink with some of my girlfriends. We've already planned a "girl's night" at red lobster. Hopefully that'll prove fun enough.

That's interesting. I didn't know about that custom. o_O That's gotta really suck. |
