I just got into Doctor Who. I'm in full blown new fandom mode. I've watched the entirety of the new series so far.
Who wants to discuss? _________________

*raises hand*
tell me, who did you like better? Tennant or Eccleston?
I was really sad that Eccleston only lasted one season... but David has really grown on me. At first, for half of season two i kept saying "The other doctor was better" and pouting about it.. but now I can't imagine it NOT being David.
I'm still sad about rose, though _________________

So Eccleston (Nine) is my First Doctor (TM). I know I'm supposed to love him the best. But instead of watching him over a year and being able to grow attached to him, I watched it on DVD and watched all of first season in a week or 2. So as much as I adored him, I didn't have that sense of loss when I started watching season 2 with Tennant (Ten). That and I knew that there was only 1 season worth of material with him.
That being said, I honestly can't choose one that I like better than the other. They're very different personalities and I love them both for what they are. As I've said before, they appeal to different sides of me. Nine had more of a dark and broody side, even though he was quite cheerful and upbeat over all. Ten is more geeky and outgoing and can really get wound up and excited.
If I knew them in real life, Nine would be the guy I started dating that I met at the Crucible (the local BDSM club in town), and Ten would be one of my best friends, geeky and likeminded. Nine feels more mature and enigmatic whereas Ten feels more like where I am in my life.
Did that answer your question w/o waxing too fangirl?
Oh, and K9 RULES. Totally. _________________

| I watched a few Torchwood episodes and found it to be not my thing. I can see why people do enjoy it, but the characters in the series really didn't have any charisma. That's no offence to anyone who watches it though, just my own personal opinion. I never watched the Dr Who show because of the affect Torchwood had on me. |

Torchwood is very different show to Dr Who. Personally, i dont really like Torchwood either, i just watched enough to understand the continuity between its first season and the third season of Dr Who. (And Jack is a great character, but not really enough to make the show worth watching)
Torchwood is a much darker show, has alot more "adult themes" and the like. Dr Who is just mostly fun. I'd never watched any of the past Dr Who when i started watching the first season, and its not really needed most of the time. Only time i've needed a little more info was with the most recent season ender, i had to wiki it to see what the big deal about this "Master" was.
And Cable, i know what you mean. Dont worry about waxing fangirl, i love the show too so you wouldnt be alone
You seen the youtube of David on Graham Norton Uncut? Funny as hell.
Its in four parts, the link is the first. The second part is particularly funny, but its worth watching 'em all.

Torchwood has been ok, never was a Dr Who fan fan, although I watched alot of it growing up...Hrrrm.
The only thing I noticed about Torchwood is they have the women 'snog' other women quite a bit. More than I would expect.
