Hrmm...
1) Chrono Trigger (SNES)
I've played this game over and over so many times, and I NEVER get sick of it. I never tried the PS2 remake of it because I still have the SNES version and a working cartridge. I loved all the characters and just always have fun going through it over and over again. And of course, it was the first (and only?) game that I ever ran into a New Game+ option so that made it even more awesome. The most fun I've had with an RPG.
The rest will be in order that I think of most likely, not necessarily in rank of favoritism. For me, it's more about replayability than graphics or anything.
2) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS)
Y'know, I tried playing Dawn of Sorrow on the DS, and it's just not the same. It really isn't. Alucard was just an awesome character to run around as. I don't think my boyfriend (at the time) really expected me to be that entertained by the game but it got so bad that he ended up having to buy me my own copy so I'd stop borrowing his. XD For some reason, I just don't think I'll ever be able to play another Castlevania game and have the same love for it. Most entertaining sidescroller I've played. Oh, this game also had one of the most awesome soundtracks as well.
3) Bust A Move 1/2 (PS)
The dance game, not the cute dinosaurs that throw bubbles game. Though that is kinda fun too. But yes, I have to include the game that I cosplayed not once, but TWICE. I mean, really, who can resist dressing up as a sugary sweet cute girl with pigtails, a backwards cap, a striped shirt and overalls with a mouse in the front pocket? Before the DDR boom started, there was Bust A Move, or Bust A Groove when it was later released in the states. The game was fun, colorful, had a wide range of fun music and was fun either in solo or versus mode. And it was a game that I could beat all my friends at even while tipsy on champagne. XD While I like Parappa and Un Jammer Lammy, I LOVED Bust A Move. Too bad Dance Summit was kinda meh...
4) Shadowgate (NES)
My first RPG type game. My brother had borrowed it from a friend and when I started playing, I just couldn't stop. I just loved being able to investigate and having to remember what to give someone and for goodness sake, don't let the torches go out! It was just a new breed of game that I had never seen or played before.
5) Final Fantasy 6(JP)/3(US) (SNES)
My second favorite RPG. I was pretty much introduced to this, Chrono Trigger and Breath of Fire at the same time. BoF was fun but I never quite got into it as much as either FF3 or CT. I can't tell you how happy I was when they came out with the GBA version so I could play it on my DS. I kinda whish they'd do a DS makeover version of it like they did for FF4 but at the same time, I don't. There's just a certain charm the little chibi avatars have and really, the opera house scene wouldn't be the same without them. XD
6) F.E.A.R. (PC)
I have yet to actually FINISH this game but man, it does quite the job of giving me the heebie jeebies. I can't tell you how many times I've yelled 'NO! MY PRECIOUS BULLETS!' after shooting at some random moving shadow or ghost-like thing that pops up at me. Definately need to finish it then get all the expansions for it. The AI is very good/frustrating as well as it actually moves with some sense of intelligence and self preservation. Makes it pretty challenging.
7) Hellgate London (PC)
You didn't honestly think I wouldn't put it on here when I plaster it's name just about everywhere else, did you? ;3 Yes, it's still buggy as hell but once the bugs are resolved, I feel this game will be golden. I get an unlimited 'John Woo' clip, access to napalm and other such AoE attack grenades and awesome sniping capabilities. The game is plenty challenging (for me) without being overly frustrating, save for a few instances here or there. I'm capable and functional both solo and in a team. I have the option of taking it to demons with a full auto machine gun or a sword. I absolutely love the game to pieces and hope it only continues to get better. :3
Time Crisis (arcade)
There's seldom a time where if i have time before a movie and there's a working Time Crisis machine, that I won't end up tossing some coins/tokens into it. Not really a game you play for the story but I love the duck and pop out to shoot action. Probably my all time favorite shooter.
9) Guitar Hero (PS2)
There's just something about being able to 'play' the rock songs you know/grew up with that makes this game awesome. I loved Konami/Bemani's Guitar Freaks as well but it was never quite the same as you were playing songs that, while awesome and fun in their own right, weren't familiar or classic to the US players. I have yet to get 2 or 3 but if/when I get the money, I definately shall.
10) Jet Set/Grind Radio (Future) (DC/Xbox)
Stylish cell shading art, awesome grafitti art, along with the option to make your own and a kicking soundtrack, JSR(F) was just a fun game to play. The first game was definately a bit more difficult to the point of frustration at times with having to do the swivel stick movements but still enjoyable. The second seemed to focus a lot more on the skating and grinding of the environment, which I was rather thankful for. Just a blast to play and some bizzare crazy music to listen to. I mean, c'mon...the Birthday Cake song? CLASSIC. XD _________________ Currently stuck on:

The controls were vastly improved for the sequel and there's a bonus level that can be unlocked, so it's much more fun than the original. There's always emulators and ROMs... |

Well, 1. ) EarthBound (SNES). OMG, you have to get an emulator and play this game. It's FANTASTIC. So quirky and weird and so much fun... and set in modern day. (No getting bags of gold when you kill an enemy... nope. You go to the ATM, use your ATM card and you've found that your father has deposited money into your account.)
The rest are in random order:
2.) Grand Theft Auto III (wow, this game is fanTAStic!)
3.) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
4.) World of Warcraft
5.) SimCity (any of them. Although I liked the last one, 4000, the best, but the fact they had a transit addon for it probably had something to do with that [I'm a big transit nerd])
6.) Katamari Damacy (OMG SO ADDICTIVE... this would probably be #2)
7.) Team Fortress (oh, I wasted so many hours on this game)
8.) HalfLife (if I could draw, I would do Gordon Freeman fanart)
9.) Guitar Hero II
10.) Super Mario World (SNES)
Someone mentioned GTA: San Andreas. I have it and I just can't seem to get into it. Perhaps the cultural/racial differences? (I'm caucasian.) Perhaps the fact that I can't understand what they're talking about half the time? (I try, I really do.) _________________

oh man, Earthbound was a pretty awesome game...however, it does not make it into my top ten.
the game on the top of my list for all time favorite is super metroid. best. game. ever.
and the following games all have a special place in my heart, so much that i still occasionally play them:
castlevania III
legend of zelda: link to the past
xenogears
hl: counter-strike
tetris
galaga
megaman series
super mario kart
soul calibur
i should also note i'm a bit of a nostalgia freak and haven't quite made the jump to add new(er) games to the list. newer meaning stuff that was on the last generation of consoles till now. |

I think I love you.
No, really. EarthBound is my favorite video game of all time.
We TOTALLY have to start up an EarthBound playthrough and discussion on here. What do you think? Let's get some of the other gals into it! _________________
